Peterborough V Sheffield Plpo Quarter Final 2nd Leg

Recommended Posts

Paco rode better than his points tally as well. Hw was well clear in the heat where Rafa Konpka fell and, of course, Barker won the rerun and lapped Paco denying him a point when he was trying to nurse his bike home after an issue at the start.

It was certainly unusual to see someone excluded for being lapped, I am struggling to remember if I have ever witnessed that before.

but I would have had to asked Neil Waston to move!! :D

I didn't like that bit Neil if you're reading. This is the man who said: "Personal comments/remarks are not necessary thank you ... :nono: " ;)

Good racing as expected.

Sheffield were disappointing to say the least whilst Peterborough were well up for this one.

Josh Bates suddenly fathomed out how to pass and produced a great heat where he came form 3rd to 1st on the same bend.

Next Sunday will be considerably more difficult.

It wasn't 15 mins. The timings were: heat 1 eventually at 5.30; 8 heats to 6.30; heat 10 interval 6.50 to 6.55; meeting finish 7.40

Apart from Konopka though, which he thankfully walked away from, and the track/medical staff dealt with quickly, effectively and efficiently, there was thankfully nothing to warrant such lengthy delays. Transpose those accidents to a Sky meeting and only heat 11 would justify the length of the delay.

hmmm, is 7.40 the normal finish time for a 5pm start. Looking at travel options for next sunday.

That would leave it very tight for getting to Stansted for a 21:40 flight.

It's Parkinson's Law of Sunday speedway whereby the meeting will fill the time available. The first consideration is that you and I may be organised and get there in good time, but as with any big club meeting, start time will depend on the disorganised still queuing outside. The second is any stoppages invoke the "plenty of time it's Sunday" level of urgency, as does the general running come to that. That would have missed the weekly curfew by 10 mins which tells you a lot.

Too answer the question though: 7.40 is excessive and 7pm should be more realistic. It looks like everything needs to work like clockwork for you and only you can decide if you want to take the risk?

If I was Neil Waston I might have been offended by the comment :-)

I always thought that Neil Watson was a non de plume

Great that Peterborough won through and earned themselves another meaningful home fixture but in hindsight I did feel they were a tad fortunate that Sheffield's guest number one had an off night. If Sheffield had done the same as Peterborough and opted to use RR the outcome might have been different. If say they had got 8 points from RR they might just have been the team facing Edinburgh in the Semis. Even so it would have been a much closer call than it was.

No right result BB , after the way Sheffield tried to take advantage of the ickle puddycats being without two AVAILABLE riders :icon_smile_clown: 's

Not the best meeting I've seen at the showground, but the crowd was excellent and josh bates ride in heat fourteen was a cracker!

glad to hear the crowd was excellent , one in the eye for the play off haters

Three.

The number of riders missing, able to ride, could turn up if arms twisted, stuck in loo, whatever, on whichever day is totally irrelevant. Match dates are supposed to be decided by consultation with the visitors not unilaterally declared by the home team.
