2016 Gp Riders

Is emil's continued absence purely down to him or does his 'entourage' have as much influence as we hear? If he was at best a top 8, top 10 rider maybe just maybe i'd understand him staying away but he's right up there. Seems such a waste

Totally agree with you. Need more young guys challenging Tai as well as NP and GH

Would really like to see Emil, the Lagutas or Vaculik given a shot, but given the history of the Russians in World Cups you can't blame the SGP selectors for not selecting them. And Emil has turned the SGP down before as well, really frustrating. If Vaculik continues his form however he could be hard to ignore.

Absolutely NO WAY should Sayfutdinov get invited back. Let the greedy little sod try his luck in qualifying for 2017 and if he manages what Bomber has, then good luck to him.

Far too many people knocking Bomber, he is a legend, keeps bouncing back and giving his best, and he's the best we've got (Tai, I think continues to nail his flag to the Ozzie flagpole, that Ozzie twang in his voice, and singing the Oz national anthem in Melbourne). Don't get me wrong, he's great, but needs to make up his mind, England or Oz.

Different subject, did I hear that Sam Masters will not be fined for that right hook. Fair play to him, Pedersen'smechanic deserved a slap, but with Nikki being fined previously (and Greg), it doesn't set much of an example by letting him get away with it.

Emil try his luck in qualifying for 2017! Don't know where you have been for the last year, Emil is NOT interested in competing in the SGP!!

Just seen Lindgren is first reserve. Eugh. Great!

That makes no sense, with two Swedes seeded already.

I'd use the reserve spots to nominate riders from nationalities not already picked e.g.

1. Vaculik

2. Milik

3. Smolinski

Mind you, I'd have Vaculik in instead of perennial charity case AJ in the first place.

All the best

Rob

AJ a perennial charity case? Quick look at his record on speedwaygp.com shows he has done 14 GP seasons,

Finish 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th x2, 8th - so that's half his GP years in top 8

of the others

9th x2, 10th x3, 13th and 14th

Finish 9th or 10th in a year and your bound to be looked at for a wild card the following year, especially if you performed well and met some bad luck. 2015 he finished 10th but put in some strong performances.

In 2007 he finished 10th but with 2 GP wins

In 2010 he finished 9th but with 1 GP win

2002 he finished 14th but that was his first year.

I think that is a pretty good record.

I not competed in speedway full stop, never mind at a high level, but I have in cycle speedway and performing at a high level meeting after meeting, year after year, is not easy.

Joe, this is the sixth time that AJ has been handed a wildcard, one more than any other rider. Surely that's too many. Especially when there are the likes of Vaculik, who could come in and do a better job.

I hope he's been told to finish in the top 8 next year or finish in the top 3 of the GP challenge.

All the best

Rob

A pretty decent record but that also means that he have had to be given a wild card for almost every other GP-season.

Woffy IS British.

Masters WAS fined.

never here voices of dissent when he leads GB at kings lynn...this pathetic woffy bashing is crazy. this country is in a bad enough state (as most point out on this forum), so why knock

the most valuble commodity ENGLISH speedway has??

Lindgren 4th in GP Challenge, he earned his reserve berth.

Milik is third reserve, was 5th or 6th in the challenge. Mjj second reserve.

In the past I've not really had any issues with his inclusion. I don't care if someone has 200 wildcards, if you a top 15 rider in the World you should get a wildcard every year if you need it. My issue is he's not longer top 15 in the World. I'd have not had him anywhere near the GPs personally.

Unless my abacus is broken AJ finished 2015 as World no. 10...so how not in top 15?.

Hampel, Emil, Vaculik and Greg Laguta are all better riders. As is Pepe Protasawicz, Zmarzlik, Lindback and both Pawlickis. That's got him down to 20th before you start including the likes of Larsen, Madsen, Artem Laguta and Dudek.

All IMO better riders.

Hampel would certainly have finished above AJ had he not been injured. The others did not either make the GP's or enter the qualifiers so can not be compared to AJ in 2015. He was World no. 2 only 4 years ago. It may be that over a 12 round series all the riders you name would finish higher than AJ, but the fact remains that AJ is currently World no. 10.
