Sheffield Tigers V Peterborough Panthers - 17/9/15 Play Off Q/f Leg 1

Recommended Posts

I heard Ged say that they had Andersen booked for Thomsen since Monday ... Can he tell me what the winning lottery numbers are please!

Also heard officials saying that they thought Peterborough were cheating, and admited it, but played smartly so nothing could be done.

it doesn't take Einstein to work it out !!!!

and that in a nutshell shows the attitude that ensures the sport sinks further into the mire year by year.

Quite. But until its the majority that play by a proper set of unambiguous rules, there's little to be gained by keeping to the minority that try to play it fair.

Well ! I think that has wrapped that up and neatly put it in a nutshell, plus the fact that the result of the match was popular throughout the speedway fraternity. All we want now is the same result for the Panthers in the return leg !!! Luvly Jubbly !!!

Greetings from sunny Somerset !!!

THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEMS IF SHEFFIELD HAD DISCUSSED DATES WITH PETERBOROUGH TO START WITH THE OTHER PLAY OFF MATCH IS OCTOBER

Hard to disagree with this statement

Sheffield have a policy, as advised by the H&S people, that once bikes are being warmed up, anyone who has no business in the Pits is asked to leave. So riders, mechanics, paramedics, pit staff, officials and team managers are ok. Others are just getting in the way.

This sort of crap has been going on for years and everyone knows the world and his dog all manage to gain access to the pits at every club. you could walk into any pits across the country and see girlfriends, kids, wives, parents, sponsors, ex riders, media, press, friends of riders, promoters, officials, other clubs riders, team managers, promoters and officials in fact just about anyone.

It's bull$hyte and you know it.

Actually there could well be an element of truth in that statement, it is believed that the Stadium management nothing to do with the Promotion refused Garry Stead entry at the PLRC.

So the explanation could not be ruled out.

Very strange statement. The Promoter is responsible for running the meeting, under the control of the meeting referee. Why would the stadium management have a say, unless if they thought there was a potential risk in terms of H & S, which they are not responsible for.

To be honest I am not sure, Garry's wife posted on Facebook that Garry was not allowed in the pits for the meeting, a later posting from her stated that it had nothing to do with the Promotion and they were investigating what had happened.

If it was not the Promotion I can only think that it could only be the either someone from the stadium management or the BSPA .

There was some problems with people in the pits the year, maybe the stadium management had decided to call in the Health and Safety to avoid any further problems.

What a pity other clubs did not have the guts or balls to back up Messrs Frost and Sandhu a few years back when they were fighting for a major change to the way the BSPA is run.we might have had a stronger and fairer run sport if they had, instead we lost 2 big investors who became disenchanted with speedways politics.

Sandu and Trump being a big miss to speedway ? Where's the new stadium that Sandu promised you in three years. Where's the money for Exeter gone. Deluded.

The ones I would really miss are Rick and Julie, who although not brought up as speedway folk, have had the decency to be associated with revivals at Peterborough, and even being a major sponsor to the guy who was alleged to be the Prime suspect of the bother in the first place. Maybe he now sees things differently, and wishes to support a guy who was not guilty. A good businessman recognising another good businessman.

Sandhu never promised me anything!!! Trump,I never mentioned. You re right about Frost being a good business man, the kind of which should never have been lost to promoting speedway. Whether Ford was the"Prime suspect" or not, he was nt the only one. I doubt Rick regrets his actions at the time, but as you say a good business man, and Poole are undoubtably speedways most successul club, so hence the backing.

A good businessman does not necessarily make a good speedway promoter. Rick made a lot of bad decisions from the off. His management team being one of the biggest as they couldn't pick a team (despite a serious asset list), couldn't play the game and his club was allowed to somewhat disengage from its fan base with (what appeared to be at least) a them and us mentality. If you compare that to Rathbone who appears to be competent in all of those areas, and in a short space of time, that tells you more about why Rick was lost, hopefully only short term? But with speedway still speeding yearly down the Hahnenkamm, unless it reaches the bottom and starts going uphill again then I doubt that he'll be back at the sharp end. That's a shame because I'd have Rick and Julie back like a shot. Despite the moaning about the bits I didn't like, overall I liked what they put on and used to like going to the EoES. I can't say that I've felt like that for a couple of years and can take it or leave it now. It's the first time for years that I didn't purchase a season ticket.

Well that's well off topic - and breathe!

Conveniently forgetting that it WAS Ford that was alleged to have orchestrated certain votes that allegedly assisted his own club. Both Sandu/Trump got Rick to fall in line with them, when it was plain it was not a concocted vote, and others would have voted that way anyway. Nice swerve.

Ford was one of a group, along with Peter Adams and Gary Patchett.

You need any proof the BSPA were wrong? They backed down over Pawlickis average!

Following Thursday's meeting, I think it's the stadiums security that's the problem and not the Sheffield Speedway Promotion, the STAARS Co-Ordinator tried to enter the pits to give one of the Sheffield riders some support but was denied access.....

Easy solution to that,, go to the office and get a wrist band which allows you in.
