george.m
What success would that be? For the average speedway fan there's more to the sport than trophies. I'd rather be watching on track action for the next few years and an empty trophy cabinet than your predicament .... An empty track and a trophy cabinet of years gone by. We're not all Glory Hunters. But hey, each to his own. Edited September 16, 2015 by george.m
Gazc
The real success stories are clubs like Buxton & Mildenhall, that despite being out in the middle of nowhere and surviving on a shoestring budget, are still going. Success can be gauged in a variety off ways and the 2 clubs you mention are indeed a success story and it is clubs like these speedway to continue needs. The catchment area in Glasgow is enormous compared to the club's you mention but the sport was dying in Glasgow until the investment in the stadium and team it has been rewarded by big crowd levels. But you are right that those 2 are a success story with the tools at there disposal.
Blackadder
They're leaving immediately after the league cup final - if that helps. Why are they going after the league cup final on 27/09, when the SGP isn't until 24/10, so signing in on 23/10?Will Edinburgh get a facility for all of that time? Will they also get a facility for any fixtures they may have between say 27/10 and 31/10, as I assume that apart from Erik Riss, they won't be returning to the UK this year? Err it was tongue in cheek!! So that the Glasgow management who might be checking in here could then arrange their matches any time straight after 27/09!! Sorry!! Lord Lucan
Let's nail our colours to the little guys Plymouth, everybody likes an underdog don't they? No, not in this case? By the time Edinburgh have finished thrashing Berwick on Friday night, they will be about 18pts clear of Plymouth, how can Plymouth, under any circumstance be considered as Champions, it just proves what a nonsense these play offs are? Edinburgh, most points, top of the League, Champions, end of, it has to be, it's the only way to rid the sport of this yearly occurrence of riders going missing and teams not prepared to race when dates are quite clearly available? All these dates are arranged pre season for the play offs to start, everyone knows that so why do promoter's have such a problem with it when they get to this point, the season for six teams is "not" over, somebody has to be there so "everybody" should budget for it?
george.m
Fully agree the team that has most points are League winners in my eyes. However, for the teams and supporters involved in the play offs there are benefits.
Paulco
Play offs are here to stay , so the traditionalists will just have to lump it . They provide great tension and excitement , the last three finals have went to the 30th heat i think . Yes it seems unfair if the table topping team doesnt come out champions , but the league is merely a qualifying competition for this now .
Red Panda
He will be referring to the off track success in the phase 1 renovation off the stadium and the massive upturn in crowd levels I would class that as a success wouldn't you. As I have told you before I am female................and that is exactly what I meant............. RP

Play offs are here to stay , so the traditionalists will just have to lump it . They provide great tension and excitement , the last three finals have went to the 30th heat i think . Yes it seems unfair if the table topping team doesnt come out champions , but the league is merely a qualifying competition for this now . What, only "seems" unfair? Reluctantly agree with that last bit tho, and it's probably the fact that you can race all season and finish top of the pile and dont get the Championship you've earned that many riders do decide to go elsewhere rather than stay and start again to finish the job you'd thought you already had?
