Alan_Jones
CVS has already confirmed the two fixed race nights for 2017 so I'm sure Chris Louis will already have an idea on what he wants to do. That's pure speculation on CVS's behalf. They're still tying up the loose ends of this year's rules only a month before the season. There'll be lots of talking and voting before anything is finalised for 2017.
Baldyman
One big league would be good for me, but Poole would still win that as they have so many riders on their books to choose from.
bruno
I wasn't following speedway the last time it was one league.i get the impression some loved it while others hated it.my thoughts are I'd like it.the variety in teams would tempt me back to monmore now and again
Ben91
Going to one league would be a massive regression. Just because the EL is a failing product, why should the PL have to take the hit to bail it out?

Have the lessons of 1955, 1964 and 1990 not been enough for the lower-league clubs to consider?

Bagpuss
And especially 1995 and 1996. Very much so, IIRC it was agreed that the top riders would be shared out evenly yet I can remember some former BL teams with two or three and some NL sides struggling to find one. However I'd like to think that speedway promoters can see the benefit of acting in the best interests of the sport as a whole and not just their league or club. An 'us and them' attitude won't move speedway forward.

Yes, the worst thing was that Middlesbrough could only get Shane Parker as a number 1, whilst , as you say, others hung onto real number 1's and had spares as well. When it was realised that it didn't work, and it was in danger of failing, other teams who wanted cheaper affordable racing were welcomed into the new PL. i know 6 teams who were nearly there to run an ACU approved alternative league at the level of the eventual PL. Some were established BSPA teams and a couple were new teams which were being resurrected. News was leaked to the BSPA, and the new alternative PL league members were invited to join in the new PL we know now. Newcastle was one of them, and it was how i got involved for season 1997. TheScotsman
100% correct. Have the lessons of 1955, 1964 and 1990 not been enough for the lower-league clubs to consider? There was no amalgamation in 1964, it was 1965. And as a previous Provincial League supporter I thoroughly enjoyed the new British League even though we finished second bottom. And as a previous Provincial League supporter I thoroughly enjoyed the new British League even though we finished second bottom. As I said, 1964 -- a season the sport was split asunder through the demands of the top league. It led to Shawcross, and the stability of 1965 onwards, which slowly descended over the next twenty-five years to the point that it happened all over again..... ZODIAK
No bank holiday fixtures! No Good Friday meeting and no May bank holiday Monday... Louis has sacrificed the windfall of the bank holiday fixtures, to make sure the Witches double uppers don't miss meetings. Press and practice March 9th, and there are 4, possibly 5 Saturday home meetings.. New website and club crest unveiled mid February. Still waiting on this.. Fortnight tomorrow press and practice and three weeks Thursday the first meeting. Soon be time for a Witches Scunny meeting thread!
Super Blue
Looking at the Scunthorpe team we ought to batter them, however we do have to remember that over half the Witches team are themselves pretty new to Foxhall and need to bed in. ZODIAK
I like the current logo and I also like the previous one with Ipswich Witches Speedway Club on it. New sponsor and new website so I suppose a full refresh is the order of the day. Fortnight today P&P. Is it me or has the winter seemed to drag on longer than normal? Seems an age since Christmas and new year! Really looking forward to the Spring, new speedway season, lighter and longer days and warm sunshine! Reviresco
yellow is fine so long as it isnt paired with the green! The tru7.com branding looks to be more yellow and black, so hopefully no green and more likely to be akin to Coventry colours than the old enemy up the road. From memory, yellow has been included in Witches' logos in the past, either as a background or piping. As an example: https://sp.yimg.com/xj/th?id=OIP.M9adef8f8481026eff900471ef1166c69o0&pid=15.1&P=0&w=300&h=300 (I remember the panic Billy got into before the start of the 1983 season when he realised that the leathers he had used the season before at King's Lynn included green and yellow (or is it 'gold') stars down the sleeves, as an association with Australia rather than KL, and thought this could possibly be misconstrued on his return to Foxhall and quickly had them changed to, I think, blue, white and red.)
