dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
Think we need to wait for a couple of things to happen before writing off our chances next season. 1) If the alledged team confirmed as correct 2) How other 1-7 line ups pan out Until then its all a bit irrelevant. KevH
There are strong suggestions on the Newcastle thread that Lewis Kerr and Lewis Rose have been confirmed, but until official word is given, I guess they are just suggestions? Icicle
Unfortunately, to me, the "alleged" team looks supremely AWFUL.
Baldyman
It's not just to you. Let's hope Hilton was putting people on the wrong trail.
ZODIAK
I personally wouldn't say it looks awful by any means I think that's a bit OTT. It looks quite competitive but if it is the team, I was expecting better. Let's just wait and see if it's confirmed.
Panthers89
There will be plenty worse teams just think you have too many question marks over it..... Nielsen top 5? Kerr returning? Ritchings returning? Risager consistency? We will see though, that's if the teams correct.

I'm not convinced Nielsen warranted a return even at reserve let alone in the 1-5. The problem here is the two reserves don't look great to me either so It's not like we have a trump card there who will soon jump in to the 1-5 and then hold his own there, allowing Nielsen back in to the reserve berth. Lewis Rose just hasn't made any kind of progress over the years and has never impressed me in all honesty As we keep saying we need to hear official confirmation though first but If this is the team I think we should bear in mind a couple of potential factors in the make up of the team. Firstly the warning signs were there that this year the team would be put together on more of a budget when Louis went to press stating how hard it was just keeping "a club like us going", and that a new 20k air fence needed to be brought. Secondly, the contract between Ipswich and main team sponsors Sackers has expired this year and as yet there hasn't been anything mentioned on that front. Maybe Chris has been informed that they're not renewing and we've lost a major financial player? All probable/possible reasons why the team may not be as strong this year as we'd all like. 2ndbendbeerhut
If and when the Lewis' are confirmed I wonder if CL has thought to offer a discount to King's Lynn season ticket holders on a thursday night. Might be a few tempted to make the trip on Thursday to see them....
TB1
The question I would ask is.If the club has been struggling financially for years then why does it keep going. If smaller clubs can keep going on much smaller gates than us then what is the problem. Ok some may not pay any or not much stadium rent but surely they still have other costs the same as Ipswich. I just don't buy all this financial struggle s cobblers! If you're business had been losing money for years would it still be running I doubt it! I think the promotion know that the gullible 800 to say 1000 of us that turn up every week will continue to do so because of our love of the sport. The promotion puts out a crap team, we moan but they are still taking plenty of dosh on the gate. To add insult to injury you buy a season ticket that is usually not valid for at least 4 meetings a season. But they know we will continue to turn up each week.

Super Blue
Who knows what is a so called crap Team on paper can do on the track.Ive seen plenty "good teams" on paper that have been crap on track. You mean like the one we put together this year? On paper a definite top 3 side but we didn't even make top 6 when we started off with Nico at reserve! To be fair it must be a real struggle to work out how to get the right balance but Edinburgh seem to manage to achieve precisely that every year. If I knew the answer I'd be in charge but not only am I not in charge I also have no idea of any financial constraints that are stopping Chris Louis from putting together the best possible team. Let's just wait and see and pick the bones out after the official team is announced.

Baldyman
If that's the team, it's clearly been built with less expense in mind.

TheScotsman
Don't know why Kerr would be very expensive. His average dropped this past season.
ZODIAK
Don't know why Kerr would be very expensive. His average dropped this past season. It did drop a fraction, but that could be possibly due to him having a spell at number 1, a position he won't get a sniff of next season. The question I would ask is.If the club has been struggling financially for years then why does it keep going. If smaller clubs can keep going on much smaller gates than us then what is the problem. Ok some may not pay any or not much stadium rent but surely they still have other costs the same as Ipswich. To add insult to injury you buy a season ticket that is usually not valid for at least 4 meetings a season. But they know we will continue to turn up each week.I don't think the "800-1000 gullible" punters that turn up every week makes the promotion a healthy profit. Chris Louis has openly admitted that he'd gladly hand over the club to someone willing to take it, but there are no offers! He's even gone as far as saying he doesn't actually want or need it but his passion for Ipswich keeps him going. It's not a money making business these days, I think that's pretty clear. On the season tickets, that's another issue entirely. They are, and always have been terrible value for money not just at Ipswich but just about throughout the country. They really should be more discounted.

stu219
Blimey what a lot of moaners seem to be on here. Be gratefully that there is speedway to watch next year. I'm one of the so called "gullible" who go along every week to watch and I would rather watch speedway than sit at home every Thursday during the summer. Chris Louis can only assemble a team that he can afford just like any business should do. Also as everyone knows a winning team on paper rarely comes up trumps anyway. Team spirit far more important like any team sport. If the team rumoured on here is correct then I think team spirit will be good. Having said that im not sure Chris will be happy with Mr Hilton giving the team out in the fashion that he did. Very unprofessional to say the least.
