Swindon End Of Era Meeting.

Thank you for the information you are obtaining Buzz, one needs to hope that those that pass or work at the site can report progress some time in November.

Am still concerned about the time scale, especially if we get a bad winter. Lets hope there is a plan B which is viable for any delays.

Work in November  not sure that it's sunk in yet but they are not going build a new stadium and never were .

I'm not entirely sure why a couple on here seem to be more interested in being proven correct in their doubts than actually pushing to get answers and a stadium built, as per agreement. Its pretty dispiriting.

I, personally, remain hopeful. That's not naivety, that's positivity.

We shouldn't give up so easily and as glibly as some seem to have.

I am very concerned and pessimistic about this all ....i would be less so if we werent actually having the meeting on the 11th as this makes the old Stadium 100% final but i certainly dont want to be correct on this unlike one or two others it seems...there are individuals on both sides i.e GI and The Club who i currently distrust over this and to hear from one side it will be ready in 4 months(dreamland) and then 8 months (nightmare) when work hasnt even been started or it appears even the permission to start makes me *****G angry to say the least.

It appears some are being given 'info' from some to suggest everything will be fine and some that it's not going to happen...who's telling the truth? 4 months build?....Drainage , groundwork, Stadium build, track build and lay, second fix, speedway/greyhound lighting, car park, access road to finished product,......who we getting in D.I.Y S.O.S Big Build?

And then on the other hand im hearing certain Aussies (not Troy so theres something to be pleased about) have signed to get there 2016 visa's...sometimes it pays to just try and take it all out of your thoughts as it will drive us literally around the bend!

That's where I'm at with it now, Hagon. I fear this will turn into a slanging match between fans and I don't want that.

I'm going to keep following goings on and chasing anyone who might be able to help and, should I hear anything I will, of course, pass it along.

Stay hopeful. :t:

So to confirm, they can build houses they just can't sell them until a stadium is built. Right, excellent. So who thinks that when the developers decide to build all them houses, knock down the current stadium and build more houses on it leaving the area for the new stadium empty that after a year or two of them houses being empty there won't be pressure on the council to agree to the sale of them houses or otherwise it's looks bad having newly built houses that nobody is allowed to live in.

It's all a bloody scam to build the houses and before people can do anything they have already knocked down the current stadium and it's too late for anyone to do anything about. I suggest people start making a lot of noise/fuss now, because in 6 months time the current stadium will be gone and there is not chance of a new stadium being built.

I fear that Shawn is spot on!

We had 6 years of GI / Stadia UK bull after they bought Reading Stadium from Allied.

The council even provided them with a piece of land for a new build after Smallmead land was sold to developers (don't start me on that one)

The fact they told a pack of lies to Reading and before that Milton Keynes fans, I have absolutely zero faith in them to do what they are saying at Blunsdon.

I hope I am wrong I really do!

They could also get round that restriction by renting out the extra houses rather than selling them.

A few of us have been trying to whip us some noise. Not easy when so many seem more inclined to just lay down and roll over and brag about how they were right all along.

The local paper seem to have zero interest- I have tried- and the council are hamstrung by rules and red tape.

I'm not sure which way to turn now??

Not about rolling over or people being right every one cares about the club ...it just about getting the mind set of understanding that this stadium is not being built rather making fools of ourselves looking for building work etc . time to get angry not hopeful

Would have thought it's something the Spar should be investigating and reporting on, but if Tel and Rosco say everything in the garden is rosy, that's all they'll print.

El Tel has slammed rumours of Swindon moving to Oxford, as has Rosco, El Tel will be issuing another statement later today.

Will TR say that if he finds out who started all the speculation about Oxford, that he will have them buried inside the concrete footings of the next batch of houses built at the Abbey do you think? :D

Club statement

No doubt Orion etc will answer this.

Someone tell Terry Russell that people with experience in this area say that they're still 2 months away form permission. So added to his possibly 6 months we're into June before the Robins can move in. Clubs can't fit in fixtures when a season starts in March so good luck with that one!

El Tel is concerned about rumours etc but I believe he originally stated that the build was 4 months, something that most people new was not possible. Now it is 5 with a possible 6, which takes us past the start of the season.

It would help to stop rumours if he explained what is the plan when the season starts and the stadium is not ready.
