Swindon End Of Era Meeting.

The last meeting at Smallmead wasn't packed with top riders from memory. However, there was plenty of riders from the Racers championship winning days like Michanek, Davis, good old Bernie Leigh and Richard May.

There were plenty of 'side shows' too like mad wellie returning to the track for 4 final laps, some old Japs and Jawas riding around and dear old Dave Lanning and Diddy Hamilton on the mic. There was a huge crowd that day.

Hopefully there will be some former Robins there, and maybe an opportunity for Mr Russell to address the crowd in relation to the new stadium.

ARE Dave Lanning, done so much for british speedway

Its a poor and cheap line up design to make a big profit rather than grand finale it should have been. It should have been a meeting with top riders in a big meeting . Also people like Leigh Adams should have been there. a very poor show to say the least .

Top boys just don't want it with Melbourne a couple of weeks after. A real shame but a glance into what those guys are focussed on.

Plenty of former Swindon riders have been invited apparently and many old faces being paraded before the meeting. Leigh was unable to make it. There was someone on Swindon's facebook group trying to organise it, but just couldn't happen.

Unsure what more can be done really. Still a couple of gaps left so we'll see if any top names get pulled out the hat. I'll be there anyway.

I think there's about 30 or so....some are regulars at the Abbey like Broady, Ian Williams, Barry Duke, Martin Ashby, also heard that John Davis, Andrew Silver, Geoff Bouchard, Norman Hunter & possibly Brian Karger (with Peter being in the meeting) will be there. Unsure on the others.

Cannot find the Swindon 2015 thread so will post on this one.

Rider of the year is Zengi. No info yet on other rider positions. One thing he has stated is that he wants to talk to the management on Sunday and try to sort out a return in 2016, I would have no problem with his returning.

I voted for Darky but well done to Greg.

Will be good to see 60s Robins legends Briggo, Broady, Crashby, Dukey, Munday, Keener, Jacko, and the Purton-flyer Mac Woolford in attendance. Shame Clive Hitch cant be there. Hopefully Crumpie can make it.

End-of-season Disco at The Medina, Theatre Square tonight, 10 quid entry, all funds going to Darky.

No Kildemand tomorrow now as well as Doyle....dont know why these riders agree to do these meetings only to pull out?...do they know something we apparently do not?...Masters in for him although officially i see no reason why this has happened?..oh well the rose tints wont worry as it's such a 'fitting send off' apparently...but hang on we have kids riding and wait for it Sam Ermolenko so not all is lost....
