Sheffield 17/09

But Ged doesn't run the sport.

Does anybody?

Another farce whats the point of speedway its just a sport that fuels petty stupid arguments , if I was Peterborough just pull out and then sheffield can have another two weeks of no home meetings , its no wonder crowds are dwindling

You'd think that they would want full line ups to attract as many people as possible through the gate. However as usual self interest and win at all costs attitudes prevail & the attendance undoubtedly affected.

With people needing to book time off work, you would think it would be in everyone's interests to resolve this as soon as possible.

doesnt seem to be anything to resolve - the fixture is on tge official BSPA list.

To be honest I don't think the Peterborough promotion care too much about travelling support, I and many others from Sheffield booked hotel rooms for our original fixture date of 17th April as we were at Rye House the day after, then it was changed at short notice with no official reason given. No apology, no nothing and money and days off down the drain.

Happens far too frequently with Panthers.

Withdraw then..... :P

You signed both Grondal and Thomsen in full knowledge they were in the U21 and that these dates would be the reserved dates for the first play off matches - tough!!

And of course knew Sheffield would be the play off opponents!! Lot of bitter Witches about these days

But according to the BSPA site (qv), the date Sheffield had set aside ("reserved") is the 24th.

So it seems that the dates for this H & A play-off between Sheffield & Panthers would be the 24th (at Sheff) and the 25th (at the EoES) because those are the dates "reserved" for play-off home legs for the respective clubs.

Maybe Sheffield realised Panthers would be disadvantaged by having a couple of key riders missing on that earlier Thursday (17th), and maybe it's a crafty move by them to try to railroad it in on the 17th.

Ged Rathbone won't just roll over. But if Panthers are forced to cave in I hope Ged rustles up a couple of cracking guests. And if he does, and if Panthers come away with a win, the squealing will be oh so sweet to hear. :)

yes, but it's not the date that was "reserved" against Sheffield's name on the BSPA fixtures page.

Sorry although I have a degree of sympathy for Peterborough, the date is reserved for the Play Offs, so that should be when the match should be raced on the 17th.

We cannot have teams dictating to us when a fixture should be raced because they don't have the riders available.

The 24th is the date that was always "reserved" against Sheffield's name. The fixture has suddenly appeared as listed for the 17th because Sheffield unilaterally decided on the 17th once they knew they'd be facing Panthers - and, crafty devils, they spotted that we'd have key riders missing.

Panthers should have a say in it too.
