King's Lynn 2016

Recommended Posts

Right with just 5 weeks till the Ben Fund meeting I don't think it's asking too much to ask the Kings Lynn promotion what s going on regarding the clubs number 1 ?

The last update was only eight days ago and that press release said;

“We are looking at riders with the last position in mind.” said Lyon. He added: “I will be honest and say that the search has been problematic and one that has caused us a few issues. We want to do what is best for the club and if that means waiting a little longer then thats what we’ll have to do.”

“There is no obvious answer, which is why we are taking our time in deciding the best way to move forward.”

So until a signing is made I don't really see what else they can tell us.

Phil the Ace said:

Think you may get a signing next week and it's going to surprise EVERYONE ;)

I wonder if this refers to this cryptic post.....

Problems with drafty bottom too.

Might be a mambo with The Lambo. Cut with the sword of Wilkinson!

Wilkinson confirmed in place of Simon Lambert

I feel sorry for Simon, he's been pushed from pillar to post throughout his Elite League career. Hope he gets fixed up with another ride somewhere, as he's a real team player.

Just who is running Lynn speedway nowadays...

The change of race day which wasn't necessary

The loss of arguably the best reserve because of it

The signing of his replacement without checking fixture clashes

Not to mention the lack of a no 1.

All the bumbling old fools aren't in the new Dads Army film!!!!

I'd suggest thats because his career hasn't really ever kicked on and he's not done enough to secure a regular place anywhere. Sounds like his release has been at his request due to P'boro fixture clashes and sponsorship, makes you wonder why he was signed in the first place.

I think Wilko is an upgrade on Lambert and certainly more watchable. If they have pulled a rabbit out of the hat at number one then, while I agree about some of the comments on the lack of communication and on the Kerr cock up, a lot of the moaning and groaning will have been unnecessary. Speedway fans seem obsessed with getting their team named as early as possible when in reality even if it takes until March as long as it ends up being a decent, competitive side it doesn't really matter. IF they have managed to find a strong number one from somewhere who isn't going to miss loads of fixtures then we have a great chance of reaching the play offs.

To be honest Gordon, I don't think anybody has persevered with Simon long enough to see if his career can kick on at the so called higher level.

EL speedway has got itself in a terrible mess, and I just feel sorry that a youngish rider has lost a much needed pay packet, just because the very well paid stars, want to pick and choose what country they ride in.

So much has happened, I'm losing track (down to old age), but wasn't the Draft System brought in to help promote British youngsters, and surely Lambert at twenty-six rather than Wilkinson at thirty-four, should have priority (I know there's a ridiculous points game to be played).

I'm off to play my chosen sport shortly...........if I haven't been replaced by an 80-year old.....which is 8-years older than me.

It might well have been Steve, and if it is, then fair do's. But as Simon hasn't made a statement to that effect yet, nobody really knows. What we do know is that from previous releases, he expressed his pleasure at linking with King's Lynn.

It sounds like it was Simon's choice. He would have had to prioritise King's Lynn fixtures and that's what caused the problem. His sponsorship commitments were to Peterborough so clearly the conflict of interest has played out in this one.

Blame still partially on the side of the Stars promotion for not getting the understanding of this in the first place.

Bit odd this announcement.

Kings Lynn suggest more quality Tier 1 riders given that some have removed themselves from it, all promoters agree (no issue with that).

Wilkinson agrees to go on it (not one you would consider 'for the future, more a desperate filler. So no real issue with him being included in what must be assumed in case further riders pull out of get injured).

on the same day it's announced Kings Lynn had already asked Wilko to replace Lambert and is announced on same day.

I don't buy the Lambert availability issue. He is in press this week talking of how happy he was with both deals.

If there were fixture clashes possible 1.why not wait to announce Lambert until they were sure and 2.why not ask for the BSPA (and other promoters)to consider including Wilkinson as their number 6 on the draft list earlier in the week???

Something seems a little convenient to me.

If the press release had been that Kings Lynn couldn't find a decent standard replacement and had asked for Wilkinson to be included on the tier 1 so they could sign him it would have made much more sense.

I feel for Lambert who genuinely seemed happy with the deal.
