Why should Tai want to ride in England for a quarter of the money he can earn in Poland ? Did any bricklayers etc get grief years ago when they went to Germany to earn more money ?

Because he can earn even more money ...what he earns in the uk is a add on ..so nothing like a bricklayer working in Germany years ago .

you'd think so, but you have to count the cost of having 2 or 3 bikes over here then paying a team of mechanics based here as well.

then the added risk of injury, which you could argue the injury he sustained at Eastbourne in 2014 ultimately cost him the world title that year.

suddenly that add on isn't very appealing

Ask Holder Magic etc and all the riders who have done before .....To be Fair to Tai he has decided that he earns enough money in Poland and Sweden to miss the uk and it's also gives him a better chance in the gp's and that has been proven ....but a top rider can still earn a decent wage in the uk on top what he earns elsewhere ..it's nothing to be sniff at

You pointing at zac and Spiller?- Both British.

No

I was more thinking of Konopka or Dilger or many other riders that start on an assessed average of 5 or 7 but only get 3 and fill up the places that should be considered for British riders.

All that has to be done is stop them dropping below that average but only use their real average for team building. (Stop teams replacing them with another 7.00 rider)

Nothing, but Nicki rides in Denmark and so does Iversen (4 leagues +gp)!! Makes Magic look bad who apparently moans that 2 leagues is too much!

Just a bit embarrassing when Britain's top rider doesn't ride in the country.

Danish meetings are not as frequently run as Britain and Iversen doesn't do many there.

Because he can earn even more money ...what he earns in the uk is a add on ..so nothing like a bricklayer working in Germany years ago .

So the costs of extra bikes and running costs plus mechanics would be worth travelling through the night on a Sunday to ride here then through the night to Sweden.

If by being not so fresh in Poland and Sweden means two points less in both leagues he would lose more money dropping those points than he would earn here even before considering the overheads.

Woffinden Pedersen Hancock Hampel Dudek Sayfutdinov Pawlicki Zmarzlik and many more don't ride here now and if it was one race night you may see these riders here but two or more race nights is not what they need for the rewards they could get by riding here

As for the 2016 team and it could be a very Australian and Scandinavian look to it with Doyle Lindgren Andersson Thorssell and Klindt as the top five and a reserve that could surprise a few when announced.

Not saying that is the team but may not be far off the mark

Wooden spoon written all over it!

If the race format is going to change, as it should do under the new proposals, Doyle becomes one of the worst signings available.

Wouldnt mind the first four, but dont think you will find many Wolves fans that would want Klindt back(unless he could have gates 3 or 4 every meeting). What would Klindts starting average be by the way.

It would have to be taken from his Premier League averages this year which ended just under six so his assessed average should be around 4 which at reserve in time would be decent.

Any team signing Thorsell is straight away costing themselves a point

Not if he is a second string as he scores well there and if he'd did move up a good rider would be at second string so at least it covers that situation.

Think Wolves will be watching the situation at Swindon very closely

Why? If the format changes to the old way he will face reserves and not just top 5 riders.

It doesn't matter. If you can sign Thorsell on 6 or Barker on 5, whos the better signing? Thorsell is in reality only a 5 point man whos been inflated by riding in an easier position. Barker is a proven 6.5 man riding in the old format. If there are other riders available who are better, on a lower average then that makes Thorsell a terrible signing. Personally, I'd be signing my second strings from the PL on converted averages or someone who had raced as many of their 20 meetings as a heat leader as possible.

Because he will still average around the same.. whereas the other heat leaders whose averages plummeted, will rise back up again..

Absolutely 100% spot on

Jacob Thorssell is more of a 7 points rider but only at Monmore Green and a 4 point rider away. However he is 22 and has vastly improved from the youngster who joined a few years ago.

Barker however could be a useful signing if he is allowed to be a Tier 1 reserve as Jacob could then be a second string or even a reserve.

As a second string it's a no brainer.

barker could still do a job (as you're example) but both would struggle as heat leader.

So if it come to them both upping their averages to become heat leader it's Jacob for me also.

disagree re doyle, as number 1 he will ride 5 heats each meeting but only 4 of those are counted for team buikding, so think he is still a solid usevof points, though not a bargsin like freddie hans or bjerre.

agree scbs post was spot on

Wasnt it you BWitcher that called for Wolves to sign Doyle.

Personally think he would be a great signing.OK his average is a bit of a downer, but we desperately need a new number one,and cant see many around that would be better than Jason.

I did, but he's not so great if the formula changes. Not that we have much an option!
