Coventry V Poole Elsf 1

Recommended Posts

Matt Ford hasn't heard from Janowski , who has had stitches in his elbow, which according to him is good news and no reason to think he won't be riding and Newman has fully recovered from the dizziness he felt after his crash. If those two hadn't ridden last season we wouldn't be defending champions so good news, still worried about Magic who although has ridden since hasn't won a race and probably won't be fully fit. Holder is also a worry as the Darcy situation is clearly affecting his riding and North hasn't ridden well lately either so can't really say i'm brimming with confidence!

North on his number 1 bike will be fine, hopefully he's got it back now!

I disagree about the Ward situation affecting Holders racing, if anything he seems to be riding better for Darcy. Been more impressive in the SGP lately and big scores at home for Poole. The same can be said for Watt who is in great form.

Now today is a fine example about trusting the weather forecast.. Right, now it should have been piddling down across most if not all the west/east Midlands, really heavy heavy rain, followed by heavy thundery showers or thunderstorms..... Well, where the devil is it?? Well I can tell you it's all a lot further south due to an erronious weather forecast, due to the met office and other European weather organisations expensive computer weather modelling software not doing a very good job with this really complex weather patterns we have this week. Which includes a dying tropical storm called Henri.. It may still get us later, but the driver, a Low pressure area instead of moving east through the south of the UK, has not deviated and has headed due east through France. This only changed this morning and therefore calling meetings off a whole 2 days in advance based on a forecast is ludricous and doesn't do the sports credibility any favours whatsoever..

Away from home he hasn't been good at all and although he hasn't been too bad at home it certainly isn't the Holder of old. I agree about Watt and Gomolski has been good too even not bad at tracks you would think he wouldn't like.

Now I realise we will eventually cop some heavy rain this evening, round a bout what would be a race meeting start time, my point is, the forecast was wrong, in fact very wrong and if a meeting had been scheduled for noon today and cancelled 2 days ago based on the forecast, we would have not had speedway on a fine day....

Great. Forecasts are not reliable. And your point is? Coventrys decision to postpone was the right one. If you point is that it safer to wait until closer to meeting time thats not an option due to Sky Sports and their costs of leaving it so late to postpone a meeting.

It's sky/GoSpeed that state the meeting has to be called off 48hours before & can not be called off on the day.

On Monday the weather was horrible and rained all day so the forecast got it very right on that occasion. Do agree forecast can very often get it wrong though.

Watching the Swedish play offs, I'm not sure Freddie's Swedish engines are any better than his Wolves ones 😳

Not to worry ~ his best engines are already over here ready to ride on Friday.

I would very much doubt it. Freddies commitment to British Speedway is not what it was. But on the same token, i can promise you now, our boys will be taking absolutely nothing for granted.

I wasn't having a go at Coventry, but what about other sports that get affected by weather? What's the call off conditions for Cricket, Golf, tennis, etc....

I suppose these other sports are not so rigorously timed? I mean they have a larger window as to when the sport being contested can be played/ran.. for example a 7 hour, 50 over a side cricket match can be cut down to 10 overs a side and completed in the last hour of its scheduled time, but that's about the only sport sky cover that can have the game/match conditions changed so drastically? They don't cut down tennis, football, rugby, do they, and they don't get any hassle off sky? Or do they??

In the GP he started strong, but petered out at the end. He's inconsistent. Which I'm not going to bash him for (as I said before, he gets a free pass from me this season no matter what) I expect he'll do the business at Wimborne Rd, but he doesn't exactly have fond memories of Brandon at the best of times.

Magic didn't exactly light up the scoreboards for WTS Sparta so his injury was definitely having some kind of effect. I fully expect he'll ride, but I have to admit I'm a little worried he won't be firing on all cylinders.

Looks like magic will get an extra few days rest as forecast for Friday looks decidedly dodgy ☔️☔️Looks like magic will get an extra few days rest as forecast for Friday looks decidedly dodgy ☔️☔️
