Scunthorpe Scorpions Vs Plymouth Devils ( P L) - Friday, September 11th (7.30pm)

Recommended Posts

A reminder that the SEASON FINALE of speedway action at the Eddie Wright Raceway takes on Friday (September 11th) at 7.30pm, with the Fluid Air Power Scunthorpe Scorpions, supported by Henderson Insurance, taking on the old enemy Plymouth Devils, in Premier League action.

The Devils are chasing VITAL points in their chase to clinch the final play-off spot, while the Scorpions will be equally determined to stop them and finish our home fixtures on a HIGH.

With the future of speedway at the venue uncertain, this is the last chance for supporters to turn up in force and show that the sport belongs at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

Since the announcement that this year could be the final year of speedway at the EWR, we've tried not to bang on too much about it, for fear of creating a negative atmosphere, while it's been encouraging that crowds now seem to be bubbling somewhere around the break-even figure. But now seems the right time for a timely reminder.

Rob & Gail Godfrey have yet to make their decision regarding next season. They've continued to do everything to make Scunthorpe Speedway as successful as possible - the signings of Zdenek Holub, Andreas Lyager and Leigh Lanham are proof of this.

Let's make sure we turn up in force on Friday, to show to Rob & Gail that we're grateful for the last ten fabulous years of brilliant speedway action around the best racetrack in the country, and that we don't want this to be the end of the story.

DON'T MISS IT!!

holub is no1, hope hes back, dont know why andreas is missing, i wasnt listening

Holub isnt riding at plymouth thursday scunny have rr at no1 and I suspect it will be rr at no1 at scunny friday! Could it be you been rumbled for breaking the rules and using a guest at no1 for a rider on an assessed average I hope you are not breaking the rules using a guest for lyager,or should it be a nl guest only unless hes competing in some event that qualifies the guest facility to be used,i dont know just asking the question and not getting any answers!! Maybe if scb reads this thread he could enlighten me as he/she seems pretty clued up

Subversive thoughts this afternoon............

I can think of one team Scunny might not like very much after they almost certainly got 3 points at EWR thanks to the actions of one rider after a race, actions which cost the Scorpions their number one rider and which were not (some might say) adequately punished.

If Scunny lose by 7 on Friday - and they have nothing to ride for - that team will be out of the play offs.

I somehow doubt there will be many tears shed by anyone at EWR - management, riders, fans - if the Devils do pull off a 4 pointer.

HT, I see you point, but I think RG wants to finish our home fixtures on a high.

The way I see it is that if beat we beat Plymouth on Friday, it forces the Devils to win at Rye House on Saturday, and then we go up another place (past the Rockets) in the league table. ;)

All the best

Merely thinking aloud, Robert.

I'll be supporting the Devils on Friday and will be wanting them to get the 4 points they need. Nothing against that 'other team' but I think they deserve it.

I am reliably informed there will be some Plymouth fans coming up :approve:

I've just heard pijper is missing from Scunnys line up thurs and friday so I would assume he's injured. Not sure if he rides for a swedish team and may have got injured last night .I see on fim website he's listed to ride in the fim world long track rnd3 & is 4th overall so far I guess hes gutted he will miss that! I still cant see lyager would be riding either he's obviously not injured as he's listed to ride Thursday. Could you shed some light pn pijpers injury and where and when he got hurt and where lyager os actually riding on order for you to have a guest facility granted Lucifer Sam ,thanks in anticipation lewy

Pyjper rode in and completed the meeting at Berwick last Saturday, without mishap. He must be missing this meeting to take part in practice and the meeting itself. With Kylmakorpi injured and out of the meeting Pyjper has a very reel chance of getting a medal.

If thats the case screm is the only facility available a nl guest as practice doesn't entitle a pl guest especially as thier is flights out to germany eary Saturday morning that would get him thier in plenty of time for the main event!

Thats tough for pijper getting injured shaking someone's hand especially as it will obviously put him out of the longtrack which hes still listed as riding in,he cant possibly be fit for that unless scunny are trying to pull a fast one, they wouldn't do that with a promoter on the mc that really would be dare I say it cheating i,m sure thats not the case though but if it is plymouth will put in a protest and that might get us in playoffs which wouldn't be the way we want and I guess ipswich wouldn't be happy either
