Newcastle V Edinburgh Sunday 13th September 2017 2nd Leg Plknock-out Cup

Recommended Posts

Newcastle v Edinburgh have always been entertaining contests. However the first leg at Edinburgh ended 34-56 to the monarchs and now the diamonds have a mountain to climb.

maybe they should get Edmund Hillary and Chris Bonnington in as a guest and reserve cover, or even for a little 'pep talk',,,

I think Newcsatle can do it, if Edinburgh wanna let us, IF ;)

but as its a long way off, am not sure, but pleasing to see were running in 2017, lol

Hi Ruff.. you are a whole year in front of us! What about 2016..

I am really pleased to be discussing Newcastle speedway in 2016. Our crowds are not very big but obviously George and the promotion team think the support is good enough to continue.

Who is the most successful Newcastle Promoter? Well Johnnie Hoskins, Mike Parker and Ian Thomas were great promoters but our current guy local man George English gets my vote. George has been in charge since 1997 thats 18yrs and counting. George is miles ahead of our other promoters in length of time running the diamonds without turning his back on us.

Keep going George and yes I know he has a promotional team behind him but George has been an ever present since 1997

So what can we expect against the monarchs? I think we will be battling to win the meeting not the aggregate

you'd have to get up pretty early in the morning to catch me out Dave, in fact,,, you'd probably have to stay up all night ;)

Not much chance of me getting up early. Especially as I rarely go to bed before midnight. :D

How about re-declaring the team, Rose for Henry? Could we get Robert Lambert in for Kerr just until the end of the year at least?

Whatever the team, a 22 point deficit will be a big ask, fingers crossed...

Lambert signed for Rye House about 3 months ago... And its probably too late to re-declare.

Actually, isn't Lambert injured...

Rose for Henry means only 1 guest needed for Kerr though and we will then have 7 riders which usually helps...

Ah yes of course deadline was 28 August wasn't it? But Lewis R still an option as returning from injury.

Lewis Rose would go to reserve and Tero into the main body, if you put Lewis R in for Christian, meaning R/R for Lewi K.

Er...aren't we rearranging the deckchairs on the Titanic, gentlemen?

On the basis that Sunday will very probably be the last meeting of the season, I have some important questions:

1. What happened to the George English Snr Memorial Trophy? It was always a good way to bring the curtain down;

2. Why isn't there a riders v. mechanics tug of war on the centre green?

3. Will the Key Draw ever be back?

Seriously...I know money is very short, but on the basis they all bring decent travelling support, next season how about a Northern 4TT with Berwick, Glasgow, Workington and ourselves?

There is still not the home league meeting against Rye House.

and hopefully get to see Bobby Lambert again,,,

its not beyond the realms of possibility to beat Edinburgh,,, fair enough, probably way outside the laws of probability tho, but its a funny old game ;)

Too true. We didn't think we were going to beat Glasgow in the PL at home, and Sheffield having to pull back 25 points. Here's hoping. :t::D
