Mr Bump
Jason Doyle rides at No.1 for Sheffield tomorrow night against the Lions....now you couldn't make that up
beckettlion
Lions have a new Twitter feed (nothing to do with me, despite my posts). Looks like they're trying to be more active. Good on them! Follow them @speedwaylions
beckettlion
Auty and starke were great tonight, gunna need carrying by those two this year I fear. Hope they stay fit! Ulamek kevlars not the same as the other 6. Reading between the lines, but could mean he's just on a short contract? At least he seems to be trying, feared a repeat of pedersen/Ljung
Reviresco
Won't be long before one of the Reserves is in the 1 - 5.
beckettlion
Won't be long before one of the Reserves is in the 1 - 5. Going by last night, it won't be long til autys a heat leader. Starke has to stay at reserve all year, but he'll be a real feather in the cap there

The Regulations state that an EDR has to Ride at No. 7, but don't state that has to be the Tier 2. If the Tier 2 Rider, after the necessary qualifying period, attains a MA higher than a Rider in the 1 - 5, and his MA is higher than the Tier 1 also, then the Tier 2 will move into the 1 - 5, the displaced Rider will move to No. 6 and the other EDR will ride at No. 7? That's my interpretation. So basically, whoever has the lowest average out of Auty and Starke will ride at #7 and the other will ride according to their average. SCB
Correct. And after 1 of 4 meetings Starke has the higher average.
heathen chemistry
so only one can move up into 1-
SCB
Yes. The lowest average draft rider will always be in reserve. The highest one CAN move into the 1-5. So technically after 4 meetings your two reserves could be the top 2 in your averages but one would still stay in reserve. It does mean that a draft rider in a team like Leicesters could flip between heat leader and reserve every two weeks!
SteveLyric2
Tier 1 and tier 2 reserves can ride at either 6 or 7 (Team Manager's choice) - as happened in the Elite shield meeting with Newman and Bates both riding at 7. Only the Tier 1 reserve can qualify for the 1-5 if averages allow after every 4 meetings.

Islander15
As stated earlier, there's no restriction on which reserve can move into the 1-5. I know there's nothing in the rules to say it's only the tier 1s that can move up, but given that before the regs were released it was widely accepted that only tier 1s could move up I wonder if it will be 'clarified' that that's the real meaning. Just like the situation appears with the League Cup tactical rides, that the official clarification contradicts the wording of the actual regulation. Just like the situation appears with the League Cup tactical rides, that the official clarification contradicts the wording of the actual regulation. I think it's pretty unequivocal, unlike the TR situation which can have a qualification added without contradicting itself. 17.5.1 Only one EDR (the one with the highest MA) may move into a team 1-5. The part in brackets nails it for me. The usual disclaimer applies though. In this sort of situation I always refer to the time home & away averages were introduced for guests. The first time Neil Machin tried to use it, having himself proposed it at the AGM, he wasn't allowed to because the published rule was worded differently to what had been voted on.
SteveLyric2
Surely that means 'the one with the highest starting MA in the original list' - as was announced in the earlier BSPA statement and means the Tier 1 EDR?!

SteveLyric2
Well Adam Ellis is under no illusions about his position this season. Why not ask him yourself when he guests for the Lions at Lakeside on Friday!? Alternatively you can always check with Paul Starke. weatherwatcher
The year has been spoiled for me already. I have problems with the bone ifection in my toe starting up again, unless the weather is nice and warm then it rules out any chance of comiing to sit and watch a speedway meeting, because the pain in my left foot is just to much to bear. So it looks like my grandson and I are in for a long wait, before we get to BP, or I live in hope that the tablets I am on now clear it up again, if that fails than the only other option I have is to have my toe ampulated. I have grown quite fond of my toe, so they go go and take a run, before I let them cut it off. Best of luck to the Lions, just hope we can get there soon. In my experience, riders are the last people to ask about the rule book (some managers too!).
