Leicester Lions 2016

I'm sure no one takes any notice of ramblings on a Speedway forum and the Lions will come to the tapes in the Elite League in March.

Just because there have been no announcements from Leicester Speedway, doesn't mean there isn't work going on in the background. Such is the trend to make teams known by some, there was a time the Bees didn't announce their full team until mid February. The usual nonsense over the closed season prevails

Despite the vicious vitriol directed towards Coventry Speedway from a few Leicester fans on here. I would never stoop so low and would never want to see any club go to the mire.

I expect good news for you all soon.... :t:

I don't get the comments at least we have speedway,it's better than no speedway.if we ever get our own track and the racing is like Leicesters I wonder how long it would be before the crowds started falling.I didn't enjoy it at brum last year and tbh if we were not back at monmore next year I don't reckon I would have gone to every meeting at pb.theres more to do these days so if the products not good there's plenty of other stuff to do with your money.ive been to Leicester a few times and enjoyed everything about it except the racing

Whys the racing so bad at Leicester ?

Would it make you happy to read that the reason for that is Matt Ford isn't in charge of the preparation?

You really are sad!!!

No, i asked a simple straightforward question.

Another problem at Leicester is the council if the club closes for any reason it will give the council the perfect opportunity not to give it permission to run as it is they make it very difficult for the club with red tape and silly policies. I mean how many other clubs have to give announcements to warn about flying shale and safety glasses are available from the track shop.

Once it closes it will be difficult for anybody to reopen it I have seen online that they are appealing for plumbers,Carpenters and electricians to go up to do some free volunteer work.

Having to announce about flying dirt and making safety glasses available is hardly "making it difficult" or "silly". Quite a few fans took their own safety glasses when I last went regularly to BP. Protecting your eyesight isn't silly. Are the council making it difficult because all of the conditions of the planning permission haven't been met?

Glad Walasek is back, sure he'd have been in demand from some other clubs too, was quality for us when fit last year. Probably club captain Id have thought. I'm trying to remain optimistic, as its so far looking strong, a better reserve pairing and an improved Wozniak. Just hope Gregorgz isn't our number 1, because he was brilliant at number 3, but if he was leading the charge it wouldn't benefit us or the team

So Walasek has been confirmed as returning to Leicester and the club are hopeful on another signing soon

Nice to see another promotion publicly thanking Matt Ford and Poole in their official announcement about the signing!!

Maybe not the only time before the full team is named?!;)

You're on the forum often enough to know that the Leicester track has been the focus of many posts since the day it opened, I suspect your post was a sarcastic post and not called for.

No mate it was a straightforward question, why do and for what reason do Leicester fans think the racing is rubbish. This question is for Leicester fans only, not you...I want to hear there views.

The track was origanally laid out by Sam Emerlenko, he went away on holiday only to find out when he got back that DH had pulled up the pegs and laid them out as he wanted the track, more like a cycle speedway than a true speedway track.

The straights are to long and the centre green is so narrow that it makes the bends far to tight when the riders enter them, we see far to many accidents on both bends every meeting, could never understand why when it was a blank canvas that the centre green was made so narrow, if it was at a minimun the track with wider, I would want it at least half that much again and the whole track was at least another lane wider, you would probably see the best track in the country, even if the straights are made shorter, you will still have the same problem with the tight bends, that said though if both bends where made wider then it could help to solve a few of the problems.

I would say on any given race night there are at least 5 or 6 first/second or 3/4 bend accidents, some of then have been very lucky that they walked away from it un injered.

Other than that the stadium is good, would have been better with more space on the start and back straight to give more spectator room, as it is every thing just seems to have been pushed into an area the size of a postage stamp, don't know if this was all the land the council would allow them to use, but there is so much land going to waste that resembles a bomb site and it is far from pleasing the any visitors eye, it could be used for parking to tidy the outside space up, but I think that that is council land and they are a funny bunch to say the least.

Such a shame to spoil the chance of BP being one of the best clubs in the country because you have a dream that no one will make you change no matter how many people complain, home and away fans it is always the same.

They have added a bit extra banking on the bends that has helped a little bit last year, with the racing improving slightly, but it still has a long way to go, it is a gate and go track with very few passes and nothing to do with team riding, it is just how the track is laid out. Hope that answers your question.

Well the problem lays with DH. Having read that there is clearly nothing you can do about it, as you've covered all eventuallties. I was going to suggest the parts of the track that cause a problem by watching DVD's over and over and what regular fans see alter them to solve the problem, but it clear to me that your man has done his best to ruin things. And having never been to Leicester but have heard the rumours of it being a gaters track i wanted to know the full reason.

Thanks for a reasoned feedback now i understand.

I asked a Leicester fan for his/her opinion, not yours but you still have to hang the bait don't you. Very sad, just about sums this forum and those on it up..
