Had Leicester pulled out of the Elite League then sky would of quit speedway.

They'll probably get their chance next season then.

I don't think they will be able to build on the land as the reason it was a green field site is because the land was contaminated by heavy metals when it was part of Leicester's sewage treatment works until the Wanlip Sewage Treatment Works opened in the early 1960's.

Quite ironic, s..t farm previous..s..t track now....lol

The Lions web site seems to be worse than ever now. Just had a look and I see that they have not given a write up about the meeting against Belle Vue. Was it that bad that it was to much to even bother writing about it.

Allegedly both Leicester and Belle Vue have a pile of debt. King's Lynn and Lakeside crowds must be poor.

Coventry have a one year reprieve. Will Gaming International really build a new stadium or yet wriggle out of it at Swindon?

The Sky contract does stipulate 8 teams minimum.

Teams like Glasgow, Sheffield, Ipswich and Peterborough would be crazy to move into the EL.

Mystic Meg - please advise!

.

Yes I agree the track is poor but so is lakeside but Sky keep returning there several times a season.

.

Totally agree. Lakeside's track's more of a specialist track than Leicester's and in my opinion makes for even worse viewing. Granted the very best riders quickly work it out and you get a race but for the second string & reserves it's tough going & watching.

Absolutely disagree. Far from me to stick up for the Lakeside reack, which I don't like, but it is in a completely different class to the atrocious Leicester track.

By atrocious I don't mean by the way it is prepared, but the shape of the track which means the race is over by the second bend. I have been to Leicester 4 times now, and there won't be a fifth whilst that track is in situ. It's a waste of £17 to watch 4-5 seconds of racing per heat. A drag race to the first bend. The thought that when the riders start to head down the back straight of the first lap, the rest of the race is meaningless bar the rare engine failure or fall.

Whether or not the club has no money, the one thing that will get fans through the door is the knowledge that they will be entertained with quality racing. The track just does not allow that to happen. The track alterations over the last winter do not seemed to have solved the issue either.

If a new promotion is coming in and taking over the running of the speedway, it must be their priority to alter the track shape before the start of next season. If the new tenant does it Helmsley can't say no as it won't cost him. Speculate to accumulate.

The 2 Poole meetings have been the dullest this year no doubt about it, but there have been far more good meetings this year than normal.

Bizarrely the worst & best meeting I have watched this year were the SWC race off & final which were a day apart at the same track, so it's not all just done to the shape.

Of course other factors can affect the racing but a track that is well prepared but the wrong shape will nearly always produce poor racing whereas a track that is well prepared and the right shape will invariably produce good racing. The track for the race off produced poor racing not because of the track shape but because the rain prior to the meeting made the track too grippy. Hence the very fast race times but lack of passing. I agree belle vue is a better shape, but it is not the only determining factor in whether a meeting is a good one or a bad one. In general the meetings at Leicester have been better than previous years following the changes to the 3/4th bend.

Yes, I'd agree with that, which is why I've been going this year. Just need to alter the 1st/2nd bend when the season has finished, drop down to the Premier League again, pay all the debts and get someone to take over then things will be looking rosy for 2017.

Nothing this Saturday anyway unless you want to see Planet Circus in the car park.

Won't Leicester get fined if they don't complete all their matches? Perhaps the Kings Lynn one will be midweek or on the 1st of October.

Is the circus in front of the bar then, Where do they park ?

No mention if the meeting will happen yet but I guess most fans have lost interest now.

There is some discussion on the Peterboro' thread that it maybe staged at the Showground, I'm sure Gem would like that.

I heard something to this effect on Saturday at Leicester but I spoke to so many people I can't recall who I got it from, so I have no idea how solid this rumour is.

I also heard similar, except Scunny was the track being banded about....
