Rye V Stoke Sunday 6th September

Funny meeting today. Felt somehow the atmosphere that had been at previous NL matches wasn't there today. Is that because of that's gone on? Well I don't know. Certainly I believe Captain Chessell has walked away. As said he's ridden else where. Again no club statement.

I really think Barbara Horley should not be allowed to officiate any speedway meetings. Her decision making when to put the red lights on is truly deplorable. Lee Payne falls of, whilst leading on bend 4, Lee's up and pushing his bike and by the time the riders reach the end of the pit straight on go the red lights. Pathetic I'm afraid.

Nice to see Mr Bowtell getting stuck in today. He's really come on leaps and bounds. His entry into the 3rd bend when chasing riders so reminds me of Ted Hubbard. Difference is Bowtell holds the white line, Dear old Ted, well those of us old enough will know Ted took no prisoners there!

Good solid performance from the Raiders, and a busy week with 3 meetings in five days. Few points on the road wouldn't go a miss!

Well it started off ok with a fair amount of passing in the first few heats. Got the impression that Stoke just lost interest halfway through and ended up going through the motions.

A lot less dusty than I thought it would be but the water cart could have gone out a bit more often I reckon.

All in all though a decent enough way to spend a few hours on a warm Sunday afternoon and well worth a tenner IMO.
