Rye V Stoke Sunday 6th September

Blazeaway

Recommended Posts

I always enjoy my Raiders matches blazeaway. The Raiders have the top man in the NL in Rob Branford. Pretty much unbeatable around Rye this season. The 'young guns' in Hume, Bowtell and number 8 George Hunter have really come on leaps and bounds in 2016 under the leadership of Andrew Silver. Unfortunately Andrew has departed the Raiders, big mistake in allowing him to leave in my humble opinion. With Chessell and Priest as good back up for Branford you can expect a good meeting. I've purposely left Sam Woods to last. I think the belief Andrew showed in Sam is slowly beginning to pay off. Hope Sam can continue (as of course all the other Raiders) without Andrew, although I suspect not all will return in 2016.

Stoke are led by Lee Payne and Jon Armstrong. Both should score a few points around Rye, the other Potters are basically averaging under six points a meeting, so I'll bank on a Raiders win. I'm sure all the guys will give a 100% and the meetings involving the Raiders this year have all been good, so I hope Sunday will be no exception!

Nice one mate, cheers for that.

Not really taken much interest in the NL not since Wimbledon closed anyway. Can't believe Jon Armstrong is still going, his battles with Buzz were legendary!

Popping along to this for my first visit to Rye for a couple of years. No idea of the strengths of the two teams, are we likely to see a decent meeting?

my bet is you'll love it, if the weather is kind. been there twice with eastbourne enjoyed the defeat as much as the victory. i think it's the young hume who's worth the entrance fee alone he'll have your heart in your mouth. branford is class especially at rye, if you're lucky he'll miss a few gates as i watched bwd & hopwood on a 5-1 and he got passed the two of them . my guess is you'll fancy seeing a bit more nl racing before the season ends.

Unfortunately Danyon's out with a broken scaphoid but it gives George Hunter a chance to get some NL experience.

I'll be missing this one travelling back from Redcar for the BYC and popping in to Buxton for a bit of variety.

WOT NO KYLE HUGHES ???

I think Kyle has been a revelation in his comeback season, looks smooth and controlled at all times.

Should be a good match if the weather stays good.

How stupid of me. Kyle Hughes has just got better and better. He's so good I forgot about him.

I've given my self a smack with wet lettuce leaves, I won't forget again. Sorry Kyle.

Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site? If so, could you please send me a private message including your mobile number.

Thanks

Good win for the boys today. Has Luke Chessell left the raiders?

Officially no, but I've been told he's making himself unavailable due to "work commitments". Apparently he's got the steaming hump because of the Andrew Silver situation. How much truth there is in it I don't know.

Strange that he's managed to guest for other sides in recent days.

I thought the same.
