Scunthorpe Scorpions Vs Sheffield Tigers ( P L) - Monday, August 31st (3pm)

Recommended Posts

Some of the racing in the second half of the meeting particularly was very good - heat 15 was a cracking race between Garrity, Lanham and Bellego, all 3 riders deserved praise for close racing and for giving each other enough room to be safe.

On the basis of this afternoon you do have to question why Somerset released Lanham.

Think the fact that the result didn't mean anything to Sheffield probably paid a part in the early races when conditions weren't ideal.

I did not go looked at the forecast and saw the amount of rain that fell previously and could not justify to myself the train, taxi fares and all the rest that goes with, and I am certainly not going to stand out in the rain to watch a speedway meeting. Which is a pity as I love watching the racing at Scunny.

Did not get the feeling that it was such a great meeting from the two sets of updates that I was watching but seems as though it was not that bad.

A Sheffield win would have been nice, but the main thing is that we had 7 riders come through the meeting unscathed and fit for the Play Offs.

Congratulations to Scunny on finally winning 3 consecutive home meetings on the trot this season, lets hope you can make it even more, and All The Best for the rest of the season.

And we will see you in the Play Offs.

Oh yeah sorry forgot your not in them this season.

Considering how wet the track was and the downpour before the start it was a decent meeting. Well done to Graham and the guys on the track team for sorting it so it could be raced on.

Well done to Jack Parkinson Blackburn on winning the MDL Riders Championship !!!

Ride like you did today you lot wont be in them for long either!!

Maybe.

But after the season we have had with injures, deportation the fact that we have gotten there is a major achievement.

oh and three years just managing to avoid what your lot are trying to avoid this season, definitely an achievement for us going forward.

Meow!!

Fair dos, though, Spinny, you have had the best of Scunny this season, although it's still pretty satisfying to know 9 out of last 10 league matches between the two clubs have been won by the Scorps.

All the best

Rob

A huge well done to all concerned for getting the racing on. The rain we had during the morning was only light, but that heavy shower as we were all entering the stadium I thought would have made it impossible, however the track wasn't bad. credit due to all riders who raced and under the circumstances and made it a good meeting For the 2nd meeting the track was decent and actually got to be good with the track was drying fast. Some cracking racing from the youngsters.....well done to you all! . Congratulations to the winner Jack Parkinson Blackburn.

Wasn't pretty early doors, so credit to both sides for riding through those tricky conditions, particularly in those earlier heats. As the track dried, the quality of racing did improve greatly. Garrity and Bellego certainly provided the entertainment for the visitors...whilst all the Scunny boys all rode pretty well, I guess the contribution by the experienced pair of Lanham and Pijper was worthy of added praise.

I thought after Tigers 5-1 in heat 12 that they would most likely go on and win it...but fair play to the Scorpions, they came good just when we needed them to.

The MLRC was ridden in far better conditions... thoroughly enjoyable meeting, those kids were a credit to the MDL. Congratulations to Jack Parkinson Blackburn on his hard earned win.

Well done to scunny track staff to get the meeting on,Ithink scunny lads wanted it more than us early on which was probably understandable due to all the injuries weve had.Bellego and Garritty were very good value, andre and paco put plenty effort in.Mellgren lost points in one race and josh wasn't his usual self.As for klindt rode a cracking race when he won and then was very poor in his others ???? Disappointed after getting the 5-1 in heat 12,really fancied us to go on and win then we had 2 bad races.Hope all the lads will be fired up for the play offs.
