StevePark
It was announced last Sunday that Richie W was guesting for us...... It's very early days, but the weather forecast for Sunday doesn't look too clever. Let's hope it's wrong.

dantodan
The Newcastle websites shows the teams as follows: - Second leg at Newcastle at 8.00pm: SCB referee– Peter Clarke Newcastle Sapphire Engineering Diamonds 1. Steve Worrall 8.082. Christian Henry 4.97 r/r3. Richie Worrall 7.22 guest for Lewis Kerr (7.52 enhanced)4. Anton Rosen 6.005. Ludvig Lindgren © 7.026. Simon Nielsen 4.047. Tero Aarnio 4.10Glasgow Tigers 1 Nick Morris 8.452 James Sarjeant 5.373 Aaron Summers © 7.414 Kauko Nieminen r/r 7.255 Richard Lawson 8.436 Victor Palovaara 4.687 Hynek Stichauer 3.00 Newcastle have one 8 point plus rider in the "Nice Twin" Steve Worrall and his "Evil Twin" Richie is back where he belongs. I am sure the Worralls and Ludde will be able to stop the Glasgow heatleaders, Morris, Summers and Lawson from doing too much damage. With a probable deficit from the first leg we need, Anton and the reserves to pick up enough points to get us an aggregate win Edited August 29, 2015 by dantodan
HadrianDog
Palovaara crocked in Sweden, with Liam Carr in at Ashfield. Would suppose that he is coming to Brough also. Simon and Tero should have the reserve end tied up, so down to the heat leaders to do their bit and prolong our season. Fingers crossed. Gazc
Well done to Newcastle said today that over both legs our tail would be too long. Unfortunately injuries to key riders happen and the Diamonds took full advantage no excuses though best team over the 2 legs won Hopefully Kauko and Victor will be back for Rye House in 2 weeks time and we can re - group for the play off's as we seem to have had a slump in form with the exception off Aaron & Rich but I am confident Nick will be back on it quickly and Kauko hits the ground running. Best wishes to the Diamonds against the dark side in the semi's well done today lads.

baba
Over two legs newcastle won. We didn't have the depth we've showed all season so far which is a worry for playoffs. Well done newcastle beat them pesty monarchs....if you can.

Well done newcastle chs.beat them pesty monar...if you can. Exactly what one of your travelling fans said to me as he left- just in a slightly more forthright manner. Very surprised at the score line which belies just how good it was as a spectacle. Would have made a hell of an advert for the sport had the SKY cams been there. NJC71
Good meeting until the track got a bit dusty over the last 4 or 5 heats. Glasgow's tail always looked likely to be decisive against a strong Diamonds reserve pair and so it proved although Lawson was very poor tonight. Until Morris got going Glasgow were a 1 man team although Liam Carr ride better than his score suggests. Get Tero signed up for next year. Would be nice to watch a match with two 7 man teams. Can't remember the last time it happened. Edited August 30, 2015 by NJC71

Know exactly how you feel it does get frustrating especially when not just us but most teams are weakened due to injuries not a lot you can do about it except get on with it. Weeyin
Well done to the Diamonds deserved to go through to next round. Please beat those monarchs, have to say though Aaron Summers was awesome in both legs and Liam Carr fought well at brough for little reward

The Diamonds will still be operating r/r for Christian Henry - unless you know something I don't...... Can't see anyway the Diamonds can overcome the Monarchs, especially as the Monarchs have the master of Brough in Cookie as well as Masters, Wolbert and Sedgmen who are no slouches around here either. whowasthatberntpersson
We need to totally disregard the scoreline. This was a very good meeting, which made a mockery of the Newcastle track's reputation. A few observations - Referee made some howlers (Liam Carr made a clear passing move and shouldn't have been excluded in one race) and (Nick Morris was clipped when he fell, again should not have been excluded) Why were Glasgow riders backing off and thus being pipped right on the line (Happened at least 3 times) Terrific travelling support, lord only know's what the normal Brough Park crowds are like. An enjoyable night all things considered.
Tsunami
Another brilliant meeting and result last night against Glasgow. I think we all knew it was possible, only getting beat by 6 at Glasgow and taking our form the previous week against Redcar. Sure enough, the aggregate scores were level after only 2 heats, and the chase for the points was on. Great performances by all Diamonds, with amazing tenacity being shown by Simon once again to pip others on the line. He really has come on this season, especially bearing in mind the bad time he was having at Sheffield. Combine his performances with the consistency of Aarnio, and you have a hell of a backup to the main team members. After last weeks track, it was always going to be difficult to get the track as good, but Jonny and his team managed it, with just bit of dust at the end when the tie was already decided. Summers can be very up and down anywhere, but last night was the best I have seen him ride. His tenacity, possibly riding against Richie, was there to be seen, but it was nice to see them shake hands first time out, and have a little chat, before returning to the pits. Nick was up and down, and the gater Lawson seemed easy meat, even when he did gate. Our gating was superb, and when not, there was usually a pass to come within the first lap. Moment of the meeting was Summers drifting wide in the lead on the forth bend in heat 14, and riding along the fence shirt for 4 panels at speed, and then clipping the kick boards on the home straight, resulting in right hand lacerations, and probably bruised nuts. Took some balls to stick with it and not get thrown off, but I think he will consider himself very lucky to get away with it. Spoilt his max, but he came home safely and that is more important. It is just a pity that we started the season with rainoffs, injuries and freezing weather, which together did real damage to the crowd levels. It is nice now to see some return and witness the Diamonds on song and entertaining like we hope they can. Incredibly even scoring across the whole team last night just shows the strength in depth we now have, ignoring Fridays horror show of course. At the moment we are good value over two legs, and if we can continue this form, who knows we could topple the Smugs, and reach our first final and silverware of the year. Here's hoping. Nice to see ex Diamonds/Glasgow riders in Jesper, Walshy and James G in attendance last night. Edited August 31, 2015 by Tsunami

An enjoyable night all things considered. Carr rode straight across Neilsen i think it was and was correctly excluded, however the ref let the race go and only put the red lights on 3/4 of a lap later... Correct decision but ref totally made a mess of getting there... The Morris incident, he was in front and was a bit naughty nearly putting aarnio up against the home straight fence as ge was coming past, tjen a lap later he was passed by both diamonds either side on the home straight.. He dived between them, causing contact and his own downfall... Again correct decision imo. Thought it was a great meeting on a very good track, summers in a league of his own and looking very fast, in fact very very fast really and nearly came a cropper chasing the dirt... Highlight for me though was Richie nearly on the dog track on bend 3 and winding it on... Not seen many in 30 odd years that wide and that fast. Heart in mouth stuff but great to watch. Liam Carr has came on loads and was well on the pace all night, All diamonds rode well but Lawson and Morris wernt too clever by there standards. First time ive enjoyed live speedway in a good while, breaks wernt too long and great racing.
