Baldyman
Looks like a bad choice of guest at number 1 for Berwick
Django
Tungate was shocking, Fisher a much better guest but the Comets were unstoppable tonight. No one in the league would have beaten Ricky or Kenneth round Derwent Park tonight. Some really good racing. Only downside was the lack of music again, too many long gaps at times. Well done to Ryan, on the pace, kept Tungate behind him for 3 laps and when he fell he got up straight away and carried on, good to see a Cumbrian Comet again Edited August 30, 2015 by DynamoDave
allthegearbutnaeidea
Tungate shocking, Mellgren got better throughout, Kev was on Barkers engine which is a Jawa which he has hardly ever rode before, the Fish was his usual self for us, top notch, Coty was really getting to grips with the track and if Hally could gate he would be a very good rider, but he can't so he never will be. Well done to the Comets, very solid looking at home, a lot of credit to Ryan Blacklock who looked decent and both times when he fell he was straight back up to keep the race going, he was giving it a really good go! Matty Wethers is the man!! Edited August 31, 2015 by allthegearbutnaeidea
Lord Lucan
That looked a lot more comfortable than I gave it credit for!! Just shows how poor both sides are away from home, after Saturday I was expecting better things from Berwick tho I suppose, judging by the updates site, they would have preferred Barker again to Tungate who didn't do much business for them at No1 but then again, not many others did either? Money fest for the Comets again, some chunky looking returns on that board hope the crowd was good to help pay for it all!! Hope we can finish the season off in good style and it might even be possible that I could even see one of the remaining matches, (Glasgow) or maybe both, depending on when they finally decide to play Edinburgh? Would like to see both matches tho, it's been a poor viewing season for me so a couple for the winter will do nicely!!
screm
Another fairly dismal away showing from Berwick. let down by our guest at No1 though on the flip side a good score from our other guest Mr. Fisher who wouldn't be the worst signing for Berwick next season should they run of course.
Halifaxtiger
Usual entertaining meeting at DP Wells never really looked like being beaten but Hansen had to work hard for his maximum. Fisher, Doolan and Garcia tried hard for a poor Bandits side, not helped by a shabby performance from Tungate. He's better than that. Special word of credit for Blacklock. He's stepped up big time for Buxton this season, was pretty competitive and amazingly remounted after a fall in heat 10. I trust he will get a few more PL bookings. Fingers crossed the meeting on Friday will at least help to ensure the future of the Comets. The really sad part last night was a poor attendance when the promotion deserve much better. Speedway can ill afford to lose a club of Workington's quality.
bigeddiechek
Decent meeting, Hansen and Wells were very, very classy. Though it was a small crowd, and the atmosphere was non-existent. Didn't here any music over the PA?Mind, it's not to say there wasn't any as I was full of the cold and had blocked ears!

I wasn't there so I'm only relying on the comments of two posters on here, but it sounds like no music between races. If it's true then that just plays right into the hands of my belief that you have to entertain the crowd for the full night. Just 15 races alone (or more if there are juniors) won't keep fans happy. You need to keep them occupied during breaks. The worst example I've seen at Berwick of that this year was the Rye House cup match, without music the place was like a morgue. And they wonder why crowds are falling. We live in an age where attention spans are getting shorter, people need constant distractions, music, chat, action, whatever it is. scaramanga
not sure if there was any music playing as i stand 2nd bend and its been ongoing complaint for a good few years the pa on the 2nd bend is almost useless but out of speedways hands as its controlled by the rugby club and the big problem is 1 off the people in charge of day to day running at the rugby club is and always has been anti speedway even when the rent kept the rugby club alive and helpped clear there debts back in the old days when we had large crowds

I may be wrong, but doesn't Steve usually do the music at Berwick? He was on the centre green that evening, covering for the absent Dick Barrie

Does music make that much difference ? At Redcar on Friday they played Abba's greatest hits back to back before the meeting. Not bad, but I am 50 and they must all be at least 25 years old. At Berwick on Saturday comments were made about the age of the music, too, and a highlight at Plymouth are the Wurzels. I suppose it adds a bit of atmosphere but that's about it. bigeddiechek
On the point of selling the sport, this is pretty impressive - yet again - from the Glasgow setup. https://youtu.be/cyHUmpl3hfw
