tyretrax
When did Kauko rejoin the UK speedway scene? When he rejoined Glasgow although now out with a shoulder injury. Edit- just saw this has already been posted. Edited August 26, 2015 by tyretrax
sparkafag
No. Edinburgh openly talk about struggling to finance their current team, adding another rider of heat leader quality to their side isn’t going to help with that. The sport is hardly thriving in Newcastle and Ipswich dropped leagues to move away from the expense of riders like Nicholls. I personally wouldn’t want to see a return of any kind of looser trophy either, it is perfectly normal for sides to have a crap season. If anything asking sides who have had a crap season to compete in a crap competition is only adding additional expenses as it has already been shown fans aren’t interested in attending dead rubbers. It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world to look at ways sides could actually end their season quicker rather than extend it. The idea of a league restructure is both admirable but also highly questionable just now given you would basically be asking clubs to throw their entire business plan and accounting up in the air, it would just as quickly end a lot of clubs, needlessly, than it would make the sport in the country. It is neither here nor there really but what difference would it make if attendances are, or aren’t made public?
Christopher Bcmma Cook
I guess making attendances public will offer more clarity between promotion and fan. Also if the away team is getting a cut then it needs to be verified
van wolfswinkel
To be fair rmc - Derby Games in Football do generally have increased Attendances over ordinary 'run of the mill' Games. The argument is - would that happen in Speedway if you were playing your nearest neighbours. I think it could possibly be the case. We don't have any near neighbours now at Swindon, with local rivals Oxford and Reading gone, the nearest are Poole and Coventry , about 70 miles away! Don't think announcing attendaces would make any difference. Some clubs have such small crowds would probably only take you 5 minutes to count 'em all! Christopher Bcmma Cook
The ones with a small crowd would benefit taking 25% of the gate away, all clubs working together sharing the pie

Too many promoters in the past took too much out of the sport.
SCB
How are riders who solely ride in Britain going to make a living riding 14 league fixtures a year, maybe 20 in all competitions ? They get a day job! Speedway diesbt exist to provide people with a job. Some riders (all in reality) need to realise the sport cannot afford to pay them what it currently does. if they don't like that maybe they can go and tell Tesco what job they want and how much they want to earn and see how much Tesco laugh at them! Triple.H.
The way as some of the Swedish riders do, and that is by working. Aah but in Britain it appears that if you're a NL rider with a 4 point average and a sign written van you are a professional speedway rider. One of the reasons were currently struggling on the world stage. We have some youngsters who'll ride anywhere as they're hungry to improve but still have a few "superstar nobody's" who think a van and a girlfriend mean they've made it. I'm sure Tesco would be fully flexible in allowing riders to have afternoons off to travel to meetings all over the country and not expect them to be in too early after a meeting at Plymouth the night before,

Trees
A flexible contract with Tesco would work perfectly 😅
