Risk...acceptable Or Unacceptable?

Recommended Posts

Perhaps Neck Braces and Inflatable Jackets should be compulsory. The problem, of course, is Cost to Riders. Perhaps those particular Items could be provided by the Promoter?

No, the problem is that they are potentially more dangerous than riding without one. Thats why they are not used more than they are.

I bow to your superior knowledge on these matters.

I had not realised that. Thank you for the information.

Thats what the riders think, and told me. I've said it many times, something is not right with them. If they were the saviour, everyone would use them.

It happen in Poland the past sunday that the referee actually deemed the track at Lublin unsafe to ride on and subsequently judged that it was to be considered a walkover

from the home team Lublin. So Pila was awarded the win with 40-0. According to the sportowefakty article, the referee consider the lack of track preparations as being deliberate.

Always good to remember, that a well prepared track surface is the best safety measure!

What and why really happened in in Lublin will hopefully come out one day.

Something that could be done that would improve safety is to have a secret ballot of riders when they have complained about track conditions. I have seen situations where riders have been put under pressure by their promoters/ managers to continue with a meeting and there's absolutely no point in asking Ms Vardy or the like to make a decision on whether a track is safe to ride.

As for making more protective clothing compulsory I would really disagree. To my way of thinking all riders know the risks and are probably the best placed to decide what they need. You need rules about the minimum sensible requirements but the rest should be down to the people at risk to decide.
