Newcastle V Redcar Pl Sun 23 Aug 6.30pm

Seeing as Dantodan appears to have gone AWOL...

Theo Pijper guests for Diamonds. Ricky Wells and Matty Wethers guest for Bears.

And the Diamonds meeting will be followed by a spicy challenge from the Redcar Cubs for the Newcastle Gems. This is the last meeting for the Gems in the NJL for this year.

Suppose you'll want the times again then?? :P

Well that was the best meeting of the season so far for me by some distance. Maybe they should flood the track every Saturday in the future as I've not seen a better surface at Brough.

Aarnio again a revelation and must be nailed on for a 2016 team place. Bring on Glasgow, if The two reserves ride like that next weekend we have every chance.

Totally agree, great meeting helped by riders from both teams giving it a go. The scoreline of 60-32 would make it seem like a massacre but there were many close exciting races with lots of passing. Good crowd tonight as well, hopefully many of them will return and bring some friends.

61 - 31. Yes some great wheel-to-wheel racing tonight, with a rare and very welcome zero crashes/falls. No poor Diamonds performances with some excellent ones to boot.

I have missed a couple of meetings this season but yesterday's was about as good as I have seen. Hard, fair racing and passing, top stuff.

it was hard to judge Andersen - is he Bjerre or Knudsen? On the evidence of yesterday I don't think he's Kenneth but he improved and was competitive in heat 15. Good luck to him, anyway.

I think that appreciation is due again for Newcastle's (George's?) ability to give confidence to riders - I really didn't think we would see a great deal from Simon N but (to borrow one of Roy's favourites) he put in some cracking rides yesterday.

Nielsen has improved at Brough Park over the season and is now using parts of the track he wouldn't go near earlier on. His 4th bend sweeps could become legendary!

He certainly never gives up when behind which is always good to see.
