Coventry V Swindon - 21/08/2015

Recommended Posts

Garrity will ride. He's nuts. Although long term for your season it might be better if he has a week off.

That's the dilemma isn't it. If he misses tonight then we could have a 6 man team and definitely lose, however if he does race he could end up pulling out during the meeting or making his injury worse.

We have injuries at the worst possible time

Hans has a higher 2015 average than Walasek. Lindgren has a higher 2015 average than Milik. At least we have replaced someone who has ridden as a heat leader all year with someone else who has ridden as heat leader to get his average. Miliks average is about 85% second string achieved. But, they're the rules, and tbf to Lynn, Milik replace the unlucky Rory Schlein who was averaging about 9 with bonus points this season.

Typical still moaning! Walasek is riding way above Hans current level which is second string. As you say they are the rules and every manager has a duty to get the best guest available.

If Garrity is out then Coventry will also be a 6 man team as even less time to find a guest

This wouldn't be a first for bees though. I remember last season against table topping King's Lynn when Garrity was injured and NO rider was available to guest from the whole list. Coventry asked BSPA if they could use Luke Priest and have him added to the bottom of the draft. We were already using RR for a heat leader but as the meeting was due to start King's Lynn's manager put in a dispute and bees had to race with just 5 riders and 3 races with no rider in.

And yet we still won convincingly! Proves it can be done still with the right team although not ideal.

Hoping we don't see either team turn up with a 6 man team. Shame as this on paper had makings of a great meeting before if not for injuries & unreliable fast draft system

even James Wright could beat Luke Priest, guested for Poole at Wolves a few years ago absolutely rubbish.

Hasn't Milik ridden as a heat leader this season for the Stars?

If Garrity doesn't ride I think that is a huge leveller and probably tips it in favour of the robins. This shows how much of a difference a strong reserve can make. Agreed has makings of a fantastic meeting, just shame about injuries and unavailability ruining it.

I think if Garrity was riding it would of been on the website by now, they are normally quite quick in posting the team.

Look at Hans average it isn't much better!

Agreed it's poor.

Ditto Lindgren, Bjerre, Andersen, Zagar, AJ.

Thats not being questions. The issue was Coventry fans "moaning" (I'd say it was observing rather than moaning) that Milik whos average is a point lower than Lindgren was replace by Lindgren. Then someone commented that Walsasek (5.96) was better than Hans (6.31).

The funny thing was they seemed to think Coventry fans were moaning but at least our observation had some factual basis, not just a silly rant by two anti-Coventry posters!

As it is, I don't think Coventry have done too bad out of the situation with Walasek for Hans. But I don't think therres much in it either way, you'd hope either of them would be good for 9 or 10 at Brandon as a second string.

Walasek on paper is a good guest for Hans (just going on his previous scores this season) however on average and ability he is a much lesser rider than Hans.

Mon the Bees

I was going to go to this but if King and Garrity don't ride, with Andersen and Robson already out, its going to make it a bit of a farce.

So, Bees fans, given that there's still no news confirming Coventry's line up for tonight is it fair to assume that King and Garrity aren't fit and Mick Horton is frantically trying to book guests?

I'm not blaming anybody; unavailability and injuries can't be helped but if I'm traveling up from the west country, like most people, I'd rather watch a meeting where both teams are as close to full strength as possible.

Perhaps they're waiting for King's decision so they can put Garrity in his correct place in alphabetical order?

As bright intelligent border collies what do lucy and molly think?

Can't believe you said that either.

Wait till the robins race Poole. You will have a one off stevebrum supporter. :t:

Thanks for your support we will probably need it.

Last night on paper KL looked strong but not on the track. Swindon definitely look strong in the Top 5 department but they have no tail at all in the reserves. Swindon should win this but it all depends on how they perform on the track and how many points Bees reserves get.

I would expect Swindon to come away with at least a point and preferably all 4 - but I think the lack of reserves will impact this.
