Lakeside V Poole 21/8/2015

I find it impossible to believe we could not fit in our last EL home meeting on a date that ensures we put out a decent team rather than one comprising of a couple of sacrificial lambs at reserve (no disrespect to the riders named). This will be a very poor end to the season and possibly the Hammers too.

Blame your promotion

If this is our last season, and I desperately hope that it isn't, then I wonder which team would like to apply for the vacancy to be 'Poole's Sacrificial Lamb' for 2016 (and thereafter)?

I am absolutely astounded that the Lakeside Promotion are running this meeting; in particular, given the circumstances of our possible demise. Two-thirds of the way through August - are we truly saying we could not find an alternative date?

I feel sorry for our regular fans. They have been well and truly shafted. :(

Are you suggesting that Poole aren't good opposition for what might be your last meeting at the Arena - or are you only looking at it from a 'winning is everything' perspective - something that Poole are usually accused of??!:D

Got to say Stuart Douglas's words do not inspire much confidence for 2016:

He has stated: “2015 has been a difficult season on and off track for the Club and the fans and whilst I cannot offer secure comfort regarding next year – that facility is not within my control – those that know this promotion will understand that we will fight every inch of the way.

So, without wishing to create more drama around the details we just don’t know, it would be great if all our fans that have visited us over the years come and see what I suspect will be a fantastic Elite League meeting against Poole and certainly the last for this season at the Arena Essex Raceway.

What a way to go out of the sport.........gifting 4 away points to Poole. I cannot think of anything that could actually be worse.

What if Swindon were the ones being gifted 4 away points?

Skidder, might I suggest you refrain from the sarcastic comments at the moment.

We're a little on edge over here right now for obvious reasons and surely can be afforded a little bit a right to vent without being challenged.

The Lakeside fixture list has a date reserved for rain off on 4th Sept. That presumably could be used to re-stage this match although that in turn would mean no meetings. In the whole of August which in turn means a lack of momentum that everyone complains about,

There were originally three meetings scheduled for August but thanks to Sky two of them were moved forward so once again Sky get the if way and the fans suffer.

Feel for the Hammers fans.......................The promotion have thrown the towel in before a wheel is turned...................We book a track specialist in Morley.............Lakeside book Hughes...........

After Ashley Birks was injured Jon Cook said in his programme notes that Ben Morely would be given first option to guest in the remaining matches. Ben has been quite happy to take guest bookings since then for Lakeside so we don't know why he is not ri,ding this time. Seems reasonable to assume ££££'s may have had something to do with it unless anyone has any first hand knowledge of what might have gone on behind the scenes.

I accept the weakness at the EDR positions for Lakeside, however the Pirates away form / results have been poor in recent meetings and on a technical track I can see no reason why the home 1 to 5 cannot outscore the visiting 1 to 5 so it's a home win for me.

Jesus, is that the best Lakeside can do at reserve!! Hughes was shocking last time.

I take it Ashley Morris is riding for play off rivals Swindon tomorrow then?

Surely even Greenwood or Ritchings would have been better than Hughes.

It is a continuing indictment of the farce that the EDR system has descended into. The vast majority of EL meetings are decided at reserve these days when you analyse it.

A totally disastrous season for the Lakeside promotion, some problems being self inflicted, others outside their control but the absolute bottom line is that British Speedwáy , for all its many other faults is being wrecked by the extensive continental calendar and GP calendar plus qualifiers . and the absolute shambles that the EDR system has become.

If Lakeside go under this year, as well they might, these problems will not go with them . They will land on someone else's doorstep, as indeed they already are hitting a couple of other clubs. Its all very well for people like Gater 1 to make their self righteous and pious comments but unless these two problems are resolved this winter (which seems unlikely) they will kill off top league racing in this country within a season, and that is before we even think about the multitude of other problems the sport faces. The situation is that serious IMO not just for Lakeside but for the whole sport.

If the fixture were to be put back to 4th September we would be without Mikkel (Danish Junior Championship) and Kim (SGP Challenge).

Therein lies the problem then. I suppose the other thing is if it were moved to 4th September and that was rained off they would go past the cut off date.

All I can think is so that our parting shot out of the EL is to gift 4 points to Poole.

It looks that way.

Really hope this isn't the end of Lakeside Hammers and that something can be done so we see you racing next year.

There will soon be no clubs left. The sport really is dying

I wonder why Lakeside aren't using Ashley Morris

Probably riding elsewhere because Swindon would be using him otherwise i would of thought, much better rider than James Wright.

Poole should clean up at reserve, they must have been quick to get Ben Morley as i would have thought he could have guested for Lakeside.

Holder hates the place but he will score a few, Gomolski won't score many but North, Watt and Janowski should be ok, so expecting a narrow away win.

Should be a easy Poole win.

With regards to Ashley Morris, Rosco apparently said last night that his play off rivals will now no longer let him use their riders as guests. It really is getting tense between the three managers but it does make sense

Isn't that denying someone a chance to earn money, Poole don't seem to mind as they let Kings Lynn borrow North last night.
