foreverblue
Errr... he is the current Team GB manager I must have missed Nicki's participation in this meeting. Or are you just taking a swipe? Never mind, the pressure tactics other riders are showing towards Pedersen at the moment will soon be yesterday's news. Hope Darcy doesn't celebrate his max too hard tonight. Just thought it sounded familiar, hope he never wins another world title and really pleased Emil is showing him up in the sec.Darcy will be just fine and probably beat dirty Nicki next time they meet in a gp as long as he doesn't try going round the outside! ouch
Need help with this if anyone knows what's what. Green light on. Rider gets disqualified for delaying the start and that running of the race ends at that point as a replacement is required. After this but before the rerun of the heat a rider then touches the tapes. Should he be disqualified from a race that had already been stopped and why? I've seen it twice this year but never before. BuzzCagney
Rosco reported as saying speedway is 'supposed to be a professional sport'. What gave him that idea?!
sommelier
I go to Swindon every week, NOT because i support them, its local. If people are moaning about the track & the racing last night, no better than Swindon dish up majority of the time. Me personally i don't like Rosco as a person, so full of himself! Regarding team GB, give me Rob Lyon every time!
Rob B
I must admit I am wondering whether I was at a different meeting. True, you could cut the atmosphere with a knife but, aside from Cook's furious win in heat 14 and Nielsen's brilliant win from behind in heat 12, almost every race was decided by bend 2. The track certainly wasn't dangerous but equally it certainly wasn't good either. Some might have felt that the events of heats 13 & 14 might have added to the atmosphere but most where I was standing (third bend) thought it made the meeting degenerate into a pantomime. You could get away with the poor quality of the racing or what happened during those races but not both, especially when the meeting took 2 and a half hours to run. Where I was standing people were streaming from the stadium before heat 15, one using the word 'farce' very loudly. A Cradley fan voiced his displeasure at the 'sh&thole' of a track, while two lads next to me (one in his meeting of the season, another first timer altogether) confirmed they wouldn't be going again. One point - which I am sure will picked up - is that the starting marshal's error with the flags could cost the Aces a play off spot. In the first re run Nicholls was second, which would have given them an extra point and lost Swindon one. Ward was brilliant but for me the man of the match was Nielsen. Think you was watching different meeting them as there was also Ward passing Zagar, Morris passed Nicholls, Both Zagar and Nicholls passed Morris in one race, Summers passed Nielsen, Ward passed both Cook & Nicholls, heat 12 went from a 1-5 to 4-2 over 4 laps, cook passed Wright. It wasn't a classic meeting racing wise but it was decent not all from the gate, add the controversy and crashes etc made it very entertaining.
GoFastTurnLeft
The more I've read about the meeting, the more I understand Rosco. Why should Cook have been given 10 minutes for throwing his toys out of the pram? He shouldve been given 2 minutes like anyone else and excluded if he didn't make it, just like he was earlier. Anyone know why he was so stroppy? He seemed to be riding well.

Haha shame he didn't think that during some of his dodgy going ons this season 😉
sommelier
Though i thoroughly enjoyed last nights meeting, the highlight of the evening for me was meeting Peter Williams, what a gent of a man

ouch
Must admit I was surprised that a Zagarless Aces out scored the robins over the latter stages 26-22. When you match the two teams it seems harder to lose but thank god for Rosco I suppose.

Jacques
If only this had been Sky. It's always a joy to see Rosco lose it on TV. .. Edited August 18, 2015 by Jacques
Aces51
Cook was excluded and a reserve put in to replace him.The fact that whoever, including the referee, thought he could be replaced confirmed his match was over, so why shouldn't he go and get showered. The race was even started with Worrall but had to be rerun and it was only then that the question arose as to whether Cook had to have a third ride. In those circumstances he had to be given time. Certainly Belle Vue wouldn't have raised it and obviously the ref was unaware so my guess is that it was Rosco who raised the issue of Cook needing a third ride, thinking Wight would beat him given a 15 metre start and Cook's poor performance up to that point. Unfortunately, it backfired and so instead of accepting it in good grace he feels peeved. Edited August 18, 2015 by Aces51
waiheke1
Could cook not have taken his 3rd ride in ht 15? And is it correct that a tapes exclusion doesn't count as a ride?
stevebrum
Haha shame he didn't think that during some of his dodgy going ons this season Blatant average lowering is OK with Rosco (AKA Matt Ford 2).
Star Lady
Could cook not have taken his 3rd ride in ht 15? And is it correct that a tapes exclusion doesn't count as a ride? Used to count if the rider wasn't replaced, but who knows with the Chuckle Bros rule book used last night
Grachan
Could cook not have taken his 3rd ride in ht 15? And is it correct that a tapes exclusion doesn't count as a ride?It only counts as a ride on averages. Not in the context of the match unless the rider isn't replaced. Common sense says Cook should have been excluded and Belle Vue should have had to go with one rider only in that race. Must admit I was surprised that a Zagarless Aces out scored the robins over the latter stages 26-22. When you match the two teams it seems harder to lose but thank god for Rosco I suppose. No they didn't. You've taken the scores from before they were Zagarless. Belle Vue were Zagarless for the last 3 races, and Swindon won those 7-11. Being in a race and taking out your team mate counts as a ride. Edited August 18, 2015 by grachan
Rob B
Could cook not have taken his 3rd ride in ht 15? And is it correct that a tapes exclusion doesn't count as a ride? No has to be 3 programmed rides. A tape or 2 minutes exclusion doesn't count as ride if replaced by reserve
SCB
Cook had to ride in heat 14. But surely he missed the 2 minutes in the re-run after he had touched the tapes?! Sounds like a farce to me.
Reliant Robin
Why wouldn't cook be allowed off 15m? Because he'd missed the 2 mintues in the re-run. Belle Vue deserved the win last night, happy with the point gained by Swindon. Still all to race for
