I believe also that a lot of fans did not return after the floods of 2009, there was no replacement road bridge for the start of the 2010 season, I think people just got out of the habit and perhaps found something else to do. There has been some good meetings recently too.

agree on both points there

there has been some very good entertaining meetings

2004, my first visit to Derwent Park

Two were caught by stewards, and the other one evaded capture and climbed over a fence on the 3rd/4th.bend. Dunno where he went from there, probably ended up stark naked in the nearby Tescos store!

Hope your Pie'n'Mash tour is going ok...get mine delivered to my home in Swindon from Manzes in Peckham, was there last year before visit to an Arsenal game.

Manzes opened a shop in Hoddesdon, 5 mins from my home a couple of weeks ago. Happy days!!

is it any good shads, how does it compare to my local pie shop, Harrington's in tooting.

It's Manzes mate, it's always good. Only been to Harringtons once, wasn't disappointed.

Was chatting to my cousin on the dog n' bone, lives near Aspatria, or Spatri as she calls it, she was at the first meeting at DP around 1970, she said loads of marras got in without paying. So the following meeting they greased the pipes over the river, resulting in loads of wet marras!

I remember that incident very well tho I was "not" one of the wet ones I hasten to add!! :D

There was also the hole in the fence down that end which helped if you managed to get across the river and avoid capture by the stewards tho me and my friends "occasional" free route was climbing over the old bog wall where Tesco's shop is now, way too easy that when your a spritely youngster, ahh yes, the good old days!! :D

They make it so bloody difficult to climb in thesedays...can remember at my local track Swindon in 68 GBvSweden crowd of 12000, there was a longer queue to climb over the wall than to pay at the turnstiles! You used to be able to pull a wire-fence out and just clamber in over a low wall. My bruv even took wirecutters, and can remember on one occasion was knocked clean out after walking into a protruding pipe. Too old now at 59 for all that although could try pole-vaulting in perhaps.
