spiegal
PAUL hasn't been demoted, far from it. Despite Humphrey's continual and highly predictable sniping, Paul did a great job, is a terrific guy and at this moment in time IMG needed someone to take over the reins of their burgeoning rally cross division and in Torben had a ready made replacement for BSI Speedway. Actually I am saddened by the news. i have had my (very) well publicised "run-ins" with Paul...but he has always acted in a totally professional way, and has never held any grudges. He has worked long hard hours on behalf of BSI and indeed Speedway, and has achieved far far more than his detractors would accept or even care. Believe me the hours he has put in at very unsociable times has to be admired. and he has visited many many Countries in an effort to broaden the attraction, places the various detractors would be impressed. Rally cross is expanding and like all of us, both they and he would probably benefit from fresh challenges. We at Travel Plus Tours will miss Nic Sands, and even more Gemma Fordham who has been an amusing, erudite, hard working, grafter who has worked her preverbials off in the cause.Without Gemma we would never have been able to get masses of pit passes for our clients. Torben will do well, and who knows these guys might not be the only names shortly to depart teh world of speedway.
RPNY
He wouldn't be the first person to have been moved on after a failure, even if it is to a more prominent position. Sometimes you just need to move people. Of course it's not a demotion and I didn't suggest that, and if people could think before they typed they'd realise that, but it does get someone away from a toxic situation. If you're going to have a go at least read the comment properly first. That was not said. Nice try but no cigar. I didnt say you Rob I said anyone

Despite Humphrey's continual and highly predictable sniping, Paul did a great job, is a terrific guy and at this moment in time IMG needed someone to take over the reins of their burgeoning rally cross division and in Torben had a ready made replacement for BSI Speedway. I think when (at least) three longish serving people move on in a short space of time, particularly after a major fiasco, that's pretty telling. Most people get a bit jaded and even complacent after a few years doing the same thing, but 'wanting to spend more time with the family' is the oldest cliche in the book. The last thing I ever want to do as a professional is spend any more time than necessary with the family. As for rallycross being a bigger sport than speedway, well that really just shows how low the currency of speedway has fallen. It used to be a niche motor sport televised as cheap Saturday afternoon fodder. Edited August 14, 2015 by Humphrey Appleby

Presumably he was paid for it, and I suspect fairly handsomely. And rather than going on a world tour, perhaps focusing on the organisation in the few countries where speedway is actually still popular might have been more fruitful. Warsaw was a disaster, but the inescapable fact is that the SGP is not growing. Edited August 13, 2015 by Humphrey Appleby

So no compensations for complainers.

TYPICAL comment from you Humphrey. Nicola put her heart and sole into her ever expanding job for almost 15 years, worked very long hours and was away almost every other weekend f rom April to October. Not very conducive to maintain a fairly young relationship. Gemma is having a baby but will return after maternity leave. Had the Rallycross vacancy not arisen unexpectedly PB would have continued with speedway. So what's "telling" about that? Actually Paul will still be involved with the aftermath of Warsaw. As one who suffered the Warsaw debacle I find it difficult to accept, " he has always acted in a totally professional way". As an aside, did TPT obtain compensation for their clients? Thought I read from Sportowefakty that even PZM now thinks it was all good as results were published. So no compensations for complainers. Conspiracy theorists could argue it is beneficial for all but the paying public for PZM and BSI to settle their differences in private.
