Which is pretty much what I said at the start of the thread.

It's all relative to an individuals situation.

When I lived in England, I went to all Wolves meetings home and away.. Now obviously I can't.. does it make me a less dedicated fan? I don't feel any less dedicated.

I follow Toronto Blue Jays Baseball, I watch every single game in full, 95% of them live in the early hours of the morning.. 162 games a year.. some would say not dedicated due to not attending games!

Some fans can afford and their work situation allows them to travel to meetings all over the country, some simply can't.

That's not a knock on Halifax Tiger at all!

Met HT at Plymouth last night; the most recent of his several visits to us this season. He'd been to the OTA on Tuesday for the Rebels v Monarchs meeting, Poole on Wednesday for the Pirates v Aces and would have gone to Swindon on Thursday were the meeting not rained off. Oh and while he was at it, he was also texting the Devils v Rockets for the Updates site.

Whether or not that's dedicated is not really for me to say. But if there were more speedway supporters like him, the sport would be in a better position than it currently finds itself :approve:

Myself and a few others have gone to every Sheffield meeting home and away (as well as other meetings) for many years and I have only missed a handful of Tigers meetings since 1999 and that has ranged anywhere between 50-80 meetings a season, but the most dedicated fan I know is Halifax Tiger.

Not in your league, mate. The only ones I know match you, Sunglasses Dave and the rest of the Tigers travel club are the Devils on Tour.

The difference is I pick and choose my meetings based upon which ones look good and what the weather is like. I also don't travel to matches knowing my team is at the bottom of the league and is going to get stuffed or its likely to be called off. You and 'Dad's Army'(sorry, guys, couldn't resist it :D )do.

That makes you dedicated to your team more than speedway, perhaps, but dedicated all the same. Two of the best sights I have seen this season are you lot at Rye House (before heat 15, that is) and the Plymouth boys at Somerset.

For a single journey, nothing will beat Paulco's incredible trip from Glasgow to Newport on the bus. Amazing :approve:

Certainly wouldn't take it as such because what you say is absolutely true.

It is about time and funds and I am very lucky to be reasonably comfortably off and have a brilliant boss.

I completely agree that just because I have the funds and the time doesn't necessarily mean I am more dedicated than the fan who only goes to watch his team at home every week - my old mate Spin King springs to mind. He's as passionate about his club and the sport as anyone I know.

Didn't know you were a baseball man. Great run for the Blue Jays recently - massive series v the Yanks. I'm hoping this could be the year for the Cubs - hope springs eternal.

You share some of my misery being a Cubs fan then. Although it finally looks like a decent team being out together there, should only get better over the next couple of seasons.

Jays had a tough loss last night, the manager gibbons reacting too slowly to replace price in the 8th.

Of course it's dedicated!

Dedicated fan, can any one fit the bill ? What amazes me, is that there is hell of a lot of posters on here that go very little to watch live speedway! Yet to here them talk about CURRENT riders some what bewilders me. I do understand that some people, due to location, finances, or poor health, i can understand that. I get to about 4 meetings a week, i always try to give a honest un biassed opinion. The point i'm making is, last year i would travel to Lynn to watch Lambert, i was amazed at his potential, i could not stop banging on about him. VERY few would agree with me, one regular poster even said i was over hyped him. Low & behold that person watched him for the fist time this season at Ipswith & how impresed he was with him! The point i'm making is how the hell can people make comments when they have never seen them race.

I think some members here watch any and every meeting that has a livestream,so they are experts on speedway in most countries without ever having been here and know all the riders without ever seeing them in the flesh. Not really the same as following a team and seeing riders week in week out. When you see someone sporadically you tend to get a false impression imo.In my own experience you can seemingly always see a bad/good meeting from someone if you only see them occasionally. But they are far more dedicated than me as I can hardly ever watch a whole meeting on the net........

:P

I'd also say there was some prejudice against Robert(or Germany) because he rode in Germany. When I posted videos of him at 14 beating the likes of Smolinski and Zabik people were saying it was "mickey mouse" in Gerany despite the calibre of rider he was beating.Think obviously the way he went about riding over here at a young age and the reported attitude rubbed people up the wrong way as well

Fair enough sommelier.

A lot of Supporters who comment on here see the Riders on Television without having to go to Meetings.

I myself watch Swedish and British Speedway when it is on, and I watch the GPs too. You can get a pretty fair impression of a Rider from that.

I happen to think that Lambert is great. There are others who will, no doubt, disagree with me. Only time and the future will tell.
