Newcastle Diamonds V Berwick Bandits Premier League Sunday 16th August 2015

Recommended Posts

Risager comes in to guest for the injured Thornblom and Branford comes in for the injured Sissis who was to have been riding as a replacement for the unavailable Hall.

Exactly Dantodan's point here. The Bandits lost a rider only last night and this afternoon we know the replacement for our match, yet we are yet to be told who is covering for one of two longer term injury concerns. Is this 'secret squirrel' on steroids or what.

Another good Home win for the 'Diamonds'. :t::approve: :approve:

It looks as if Branford had a decent Meeting for the 'Bandits'. :t:

Once again points from R/R have been a weak point, though on a positive Jorgensen looks well suited to the No1 position, don't rule him out of finishing well up in next months PLRC at Sheffield.

I think it's more than a weak point for R/r away from home IMO .Why is there no news on Vissing, surely someone on the Promotion is in contact with him.

I posted an article from the riders own website on another thread the other day saying he expected to be back riding by early August, obviously that hasn't happened. In last nights programme it says the club " simply don't know if and when he will be back racing in 2015 and neither does Claus who is still troubled with his knee injury". I think its fair to say that with no announcements from rider or club there`s every chance we wont see him back this season.

But your right, running with R/R for so long has been an error.

Yeah! well as much as I don't like being taken for granted, my daughter and I, as usual will be there, on our step near the 4th bend, hoping to see a great match for our money, yes most of us pay.

Whoever at Brough is responsible for keeping the press informed has let the fans down for the Berwick match. I presume the guy or lady responsible gets in for free while we don't. well in future earn your free ticket and inform those of us who pay every week of the riders we will be paying to see. We are the reason why speedway is still continuing in Newcastle. The paying public should get a whole lot more from the people Newcastle Speedway seem to think are worthy of free admission. Well if you cannot even say who is riding on the day of a home match then you are not worth your free admission cost to our sport and you should chuck it in!

Having said all this, as a proper speedway fan, I, as always, am looking forward to supporting Newcastle against all teams, Berwick tonight despite not knowing which riders will be on show.

I would like to offer the person at fault the chance to explain themself via the forum so please answer this post, if you can be bothered

Best of it is, is the match day programme had Carl Wilkinson in print, so when is the mag sent to the printers? I know that modern day print runs are quick, but surely his name was known by at least Friday, yet it was not deemed worthy to tell the fans.

Well anyone who didn't go because a volunteer run website didn't give them the guests inside leg measurement would have missed out on two of the best races of the season and in ht14, probably the best race in the last 5 years.

How would you have found out the guests in the days before the interweb?

£16 well spent this evening. Great entertainment.

Yeah, there was some good entertainment for certain. That on the line virtual triple finish was a perfect end to a damn good heat. As to people being put off by not knowing who was guesting. Yes, the website is prob. all volunteer staffed by people doing a good job. I doubt anyone believed it was their fault. I contribute regularly to a website as part of my job and am fully aware of things like time constraints, content proofing and the like, not to mention the prob. one poor sod who has half a dozen others banging on at them because 'my little bit is not on-line yet' A simple news flash was all that was needed to keep the fans informed. Whether our management bothered to ask them to do it is no doubt the real issue. A slip is acceptable, but a cynical attempt at covering up for a mediocre guest is not. In the end Wilko had a reasonable night- he usually does at Brough, even avoiding his usual one fall a meeting here. The teams detractors will always have their gripe on here, but loading their weapon of choice should be avoided. Hey if nowt else, it provided an off track topic for discussion.

I don't think Wilko (ex-Diamond who earlier this year did well enough for a Heat 15) is the difference between going or not going to the Speedway on a Sunday, but it's a valid point about the website not being up to date. There might be legitimate reasons (illness etc.) for that, but Speedway would benefit from up to date web pages to help it compete against other sports which DO have quick updates.

Newcastle Speedway pay for the website and it is an official website licenced with the BSPA. Any abusive remarks on the website would result in a fine for the promotion.

Carl Wilkinson riding would not have put me off going, instead it would have made me expect a closer match than otherwise, many Berwick supporters may have travelled thinking they had a better chance of a result if it had been announced.

If this was the first time it had happened then fair enough because someone was on holiday say but it is week after week we get the same lack of information

What I am sick to death about is the repeated lack of information and contempt for supporters and last night was the final straw for me.

The club could actually be making money from providing more information by advertising their sponsors of advertisers when they issue an update

Hopefully the promotion will take this onboard and make sure it does not happen again and then we can all live happily ever after

I am not a Newcastle fan and I've not been on the Newcastle website to back up your claim about "advertising their sponsors" on the website, but you are spot on. I am involved in an amateur football team at a low level, but even we have a website with our results etc and at every opportunity we promote our sponsors with information about them and links to their websites. We do the same on our facebook and twitter pages. As I say this is basically a group of mates running a team. The exposure Newcastle speedway could offer their sponsors is vastly greater than us, but we keep our sponsors happy and Newcastle and other teams could be missing a trick here.

Dunno if its just me, but,,, there was an open meeting at Glasgow running and there may have been a chance that it was posponed and they may have been an opportunity of another guest had that been the case.

Crazy Carl done a good job and, if it hadn't have been for his 3rd ride mis-hap would've scored 10 from 4 rides, so well done Carl, he's doing ok and he might be one to look at next season,,, seemed hard work early last night, but that might have been something to do with 'the enigma' Tommy Gun having such a good meeting, oh and Rob Branford (dunno where he found that form from),,,

Happy nights work and cracking ht 14, in which Anton defo got 2nd :)

To be fair little point in changing it now is there? Also who would they bring in, said in programme Saturday they had tried 18 different riders but one was Holub it seems who couldnt do Saturdays.
