Panthers V Monarchs 09/08

Recommended Posts

haha people make me laugh, hes a speedway rider, and the move he did today, cost his team big time, would of been the same if Chris Holder did it, Nicki Pedersen or any rider. He has enough experience to know, I'm well ahead of my opposition, I don't need to push too hard.

Came along with three first time guests who enjoyed it bar the disappointing result of course.I feel sorry for Robert. Exciting rider who is great to watch.O'K he chucked the bike down the track which through away the 5 - 1 and him not being able to ride again due to injury may have cost Panthers the match. But he is young and needs to learn. I hope he is not badly injured. We need to hold onto him for next season.

Not a great day for Lewis, MPT and the guest rider either but Emil and Rafal look to be improving.

Agree - said to the missus he was showboating.

Shame he fell but he was nearly quarter lap ahead. On a 5-1 and Erik was way behind grondal.

Had 2 big races against cookie to come.

With panthers injury list as it is it was just stupid.

He could have blown an engine or come a cropper - it was the latter plus a very bent bike.

Hope for his sake he's back soon but he has a lot to learn.

Thought the track was poor.

Dry, slick & dusty - hardly what the likes of MPT would have wanted.

Robert Lambert made a mistake today, not the first and I'm sure not the last to do so, but you got to realise he is still a young man and an exceptional talent for his age. I'm sure he is as gutted as anyone else, with the injury to go with it, so I am not going to blame him for the defeat, Edinburgh are a good side and may well have won regardless. I think he was just having fun riding his bike, but overcooked it, I'm sure he will learn from his mistake today.

I beg to differ..we was on a 5.1 plus he would have been out in heat 15 and this would have made a big difference to the score..I have to agree with Pantherman though. I have also fell off my motorbike before when I've been enjoying it too much!

Lambert didn't lose the meeting for Peterborough, it was only winning 4 races at home. Plenty of second and thirds but not enough wins.

So you're saying that if Panthers had held that heat 10 5-1 to go 33-27 up and then had Lambert in 13 & 15, which Panthers lost 3-9, then that made no difference?

I'm not knocking Lambert because I was thoroughly enjoying his wall of death ride in heat 10 but there was no room for error as we all saw, he'll learn; but 6 points up with 5 heats to go and Lambert in 2 of them should have been enough for the win. Apart from not playing to our strengths by producing the usual rubbish slick Sunday track, heat 10 and Lambert's subsequent withdrawal was the defining moment and did lose us the meeting.

However, him getting up and walking away was the most important thing. We can win another day.

Great win, agree with the lambert views and that this inflated our win. (i thought it may have ended in a draw without the heat 10 reversal for Pete)

Hope to be back in the grandstand for the PL playoff semis, and that Peterboro are at full strength....especially at armadale.

bloody noorah riggers , probably the best sentence you've ever written

Yup, it's in there somewhere, I'm just misunderstood. We all want the same thing (well nearly) at the end of the day but say it in different ways.

After reading the forum though I think it was all covered. I was perhaps a bit harsh on the track and Dick was right in that the times do suggest that it was initially well prepared, but at the end of two baking days, and at the wrong time of day when any moisture already there or deposited would be lost all too quickly, then there was no real home track advantage. Having said that, as was also pointed out, the experience of Wolbert, Sedgeman & Cooke was just too much for Panthers depleted squad, and without Ostrich & Lambert to worry those three it was never going to be great speedway as they buggered off into the distance.

I'm not having a pop , he loves riding in the dirt , he'll learn in time that when he's 1/2 a lap in front of the oppo theres no need for it

You're right - and the Edinburgh fan who wasn't even there - is wrong.

Lambert was guilty of either foolishness or inexperience - probably a mixture of both. He was miles ahead of Grondal in 2nd place, and he (Grondal) was well ahead of the Monarchs' pair. There was no need for Lambert to go tazzing so wide off turn 3 and so close to the boards. It turned a certain 5-1 into a 3-3. It also left us without a genuine big-hitter in the vital heats 13 & 15. Up to then we were in with a good chance of winning the meeting.

There's one thing certain about some of you panther fans, and that is what ever Robert does you will slate him. Yes he is learning and maybe has more to learn. If you must all keep comparing riders do it by age, it is not his fault that the prevoius number is out injured and he is scoring more points than anyone else in the team. Come on Robert keep annoying them.

you call it slating him; we call it criticism where it's reasoned and factual.

Of course it's not Lambert's fault that Ostergaard is out injured. Or Allen, come to that. But what's that got to do with any of the criticism that's been aimed at him?

By the way, I think you're wrong about "he is scoring more points than anyone else in the team". I'm prepared to stand corrected by one of the forum stattos, but I'd say Ostergaard has scored more. Don't forget that Lambert has been missing for nearly half Panthers' meetings.

Err - Sedgmen & Cook.

Standards please!

Apologies, I shall do a 100 Sedgmen & Cook lines today.

I must also give a special mention to Panthers supporter of the day who'd seen his team choke at The Emirates v the 'Ammers (more 'Ammers fans in Peterborough than London) but still managed to bound up the stairs in time to watch the Panthers. That's dedication for you from stiltonpanther, although not sure about keeping the Arsenal shirt on :D

As per the Panthers programme, up to then even MPT, and Tall Lambert had scored more points than Small Lambert.

But by a mile no-one apart from Osty got close to Guests who have a whopping 270 + 24 comparec to Small Lambert's 156 + 10.

Dunno what happened to the quote there!!
