neb
Was you at the Glasgow match recently, a cracking meeting no but that's maybe a one off cracking meeting at scunny almost all meetings are cracking, a proper racers track thats keeps you on the edge of your seat.berwick reminds me of my home track leicester poor entertainment and not good value for money thats why we now go to scunny and watch.if sky want to introduce new faces to the sport then showing meetings from berwick and leicester is not the way forward. meow, I don't think cameras showing 150 people there will help it, although I like the Scunny racetrack everything else is a tad iffy its not about showing the fans its about showing the racing and in that scunny for sure delivers in that department far more than berwick could ever do and your fan base is not that much better if any better. I agree with you, apart from the fan base part, there was 3 Scunny fans at Berwick 2 weeks ago and one of them lives here where as there is at least 40 going to Scunthorpe next month. I've been to Scunthorpe around 6 times now and can quite safely say that in those meetings without the Berwick fans (again around 40) there wasn't a lot there and it's not as if the fans are spread out like at Berwick. Godfrey has already threatened to shut the club downdue to poor crowds...

I'm sorry to disagree with you Neb but I'm from Scunthorpe and watched the racing there for years until I moved to Berwick 2 years ago, I have to agree the racing at scunny is in a different league as its a racers track and you can overtake, how I wish Berwick had a track like that as watching 4 people follow each other but not able to pass as not enough lines does get tedious at times.  The part I disagree on is the fans, they are unbelievable, the atmosphere they generate and how welcoming they are is amazing, I've never known a track where everybody goes back to the pub after to discuss the meeting for hours and their knowledge of speedway is amazing you can have great conversation about it.  So racing may be a lot poorer but the fans are top draw and it's why I love watching my speedway in Berwick, if it wasn't for the fans here I don't think I'd be as bothered tbh
Hel'n'Back
Would be nice if they came back to Sheffield, still making Ricky Ashworth the fastest rider in British Speedway

In a perfect world track would be much wider but sadly won't happen. Scunthorpe have a good track yet still struggle for decent crowds so having perfect track doesn't guarantee big crowds.

Very good point Norman, if just the racing was the key to big crowds then there wouldn't be problems for places like Scunny and Plymouth.  For me it is a mix of the racing, the individual riders, the sound and smell, the banter, the grub, the twists and turns in close meetings.  For Sky to come 4 seasons in a row is not by chance, the club (and I mean all aspects, including the fans) is clearly doing lots of things right. Sky don't do things on a whim. Sky probably like Berwick because the track is prepared in a way that has no home advantage, to that end a visiting team has a much better chance of turning over the home team. For Sky that is good TV, because you dont hold home advantage

jenga
you cant have a dig at sky wanting to cover the berwick v workington fixture. they are going to a place where they know the outlay of all the fixtures and fittings are , so to speak . also they are covering the clash of the 2 Scottish clubs 2 days after . so 2 for the price of one in travel coasts . i dont see why fans are complaining or making a statement about other tracks being better race track ,etc . sky will go where they please and will always try to maximize the their coverage of any sport . Â i want , doesn't get . patience is the key .

Speedway is a combination of things for me, a couple of hours of speedway to break the evening up then a night out with like minded folk. As it's a Monday night I cannot have a night out, work in the morning dictated otherwise.
jenga
i know what you are saying . speedway is a ritual and once the ritual starts to be moved about , we tend to fall out with it as it does not meet our life style requirements . Â sadly for me , i dont do much travelling to away meetings . so the idea of seeing an away meeting on tv is good for myself . hope its a good meeting for everyone concerned and may the best team win , which we shall .. Â still cant understand people moaning about their track not being on tv . last time worky were on at home , it was the 4,s i BELIEVE . i will say it again , i want never gets . samsplint
For Sky or any TV company to film broadcast quality footage there are few things that have to be right and one of the most important is lighting and we are lucky at berwick having the football floodlights plus the extras the promotion put on the corners also we have the best studio location going on the 3rd bend
jenga
nice to have woldorf and statler up out of the way of the public . sandwiched between the barmy army and the jabba the t hut . tell you what nige , that cuppas really nice . aye , and the lunatics on the 3rd bend are certainly entertaining . a good night in prospect @ Berwick hopefully .
