Berwick 2016

Recommended Posts

What's the point,we look at new talent then let them sign for other clubs, recent examples being Coty Garcia and Jake Allen.

Berwick told Garcia they werent bringing him back for 2016 rather than let him just sign for someone else. He has had a lot of help at GLA which has accelerated his progress which may not have been foreseen at Shielfield.

Club spokesman ?.

Dont you mean Clever Dick hes been quiet after the last couple of home matches after banging on about not needing an all out number 1 after we beat Edinburgh and the rest is history. On Taffys news heard about the young Dutch lad a few weeks ago when i enquired what average a Dutch rider would come in on and the Club Spokesman replied on here

It proves at least that the club is using its wide range of contacts to attract possible riders to the club, maybe this new Dutch rider isn't quite ready yet but could be a signing for next season.

It is to be hoped that Alden finds the necessary consistency to hold the No1 race jacket, good one week poor the next wont help the team. Berwick look weaker with Bager as reserve, Berwick may need to look at that should Mellgren be unable to come back into the team anytime soon, especially we are to have any ambition of making a play off spot.

Unfortunately Alden will never have the necessary consistency.

Always has been and always will be inconsistent.

Then with an inconsistent No1, coupled with arguably our most potent scorer going into the top five, there may be troubled times ahead for our team. Lets hope they find the answers in this Saturday practice session so we get a winning team out on track sooner rather than later.

Bandits reached the playoffs in 2014 with a strength in depth team, although we were lucky enough to have really strong No 6 with Jensen, Kus,& Wethers occupying that position over the season.Still a long way to go this season but results need to improve sooner rather than later.

No one asked for the club to mention that a rider was going to be practising, I just think that the club should of told the fans that they were having a practise to try and sort our weak home performances of late out. Taffy's choice whether he want's to tell people but I knew of Theo's friend a few weeks ago.

Not aure if the kid is ready but it can't be a bad thing him having a practise around our track, save him for later

Well, on another slant, the club last month launched an offer to every living former Bandit -- each will be granted a lifetime free pass to all Shielfield meetings.

This has been highlighted on other social media this week.

A good thing?

It can work both ways, in one way these riders deserve it for giving us supporters good times and the club owes them for that BUT, although I know A LOT of the ones who come just get in for free anyways so it doesn't really matter and the ones that actually are pay are making the club lose out on entrance money, unless of course they bring family with them, who pay and that changes everything, good bit of publicity for the club though and by the looks of the FB post it has went down very well indeed.

I think it is a great idea.

For me it shows one thing, respect.

So, they are in the process of building a training track, while at the same time giving all ex-riders a lifetime pass.

Seems like they have an overall vision here, and I like it.

Building nice solid foundations for the future, rather than sticking plasters of the cracks.

Its the crowd levels in the sport that worry for me,that wasn't a big crowd last week for what on paper was decent fixture. Can we survive on that level of support .

As usual we rely on the fixtures against Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Workington and maybe Redcar for decent crowds. Despite being a Saturday track the days of bus loads of fans coming from other track's apart from the one's I have mentioned seems to have died the death. Hard at times to gauge the Berwick crowds as lot's of stadiums I have visited often have 1 area where fan's congregate where we have 2 stands plus people stand on the bend's as well. Hopefully as weather improves and holiday season comes along we might get a few extra through the turnstiles.
