Graham C
Great result, well done Adam, fantastic race to get the better of Ashley Morris in heat 14. Well done to the Heathens promotion on putting together an excellent field for this meeting. Perhaps the day's of the "classic" individual meetings are not yet over! If you put on a quality meeting you will be rewarded with a massive (by todays standards) crowd. Hopefully Tony Mole will put together a similar, if not better, 16 riders to compete in the Joe Thurley Memorial Meeting for the Second City Trophy. Countershaftcounter
Great meeting last night, fully deserved win from Ellis, not all from the gate and with some great overtaking moves, I love the fact that despite all the build up on the Heathens website/ Facebook page etc they go out of their way not to mention Adam, ( although he was one of the pre match favourites). even one of their regular Facebook contributors goes out of his way to mention that Ellis is "far too good for the NL" at EVERY possible opportunity… funnily enough he doesn't say the same thing about Clegg ? I chatted to Adam after the meeting and found him a very polite approachable young man, shame he and other british riders don't get some of the backing thrown at mediocre foreigners. All in all a great nights racing with a large crowd, I enjoyed it immensely , and no big crashes !

Cradley website and press release: Club Director Nigel Pearson said: “I just want to thank the Dudley Stroke Association, all the supporters and the Birmingham Speedway staff for a hugely successful night and offer my congratulations to Adam Ellis for a terrific victory.” Doesn't see they went out of their way not to mention Adam to me! MattJ81
Tweet from Nigel Pearson to say that the crowd last night was the biggest since the re-launch of the event in 2011. Club took out adverts in 5 local papers and pushed hard on social media, with other busy local accounts getting the message out too (including a West Brom FC account). Kids for free and £13 for adults probably helped as well as the bostin weather for the night. Enjoyed the meeting, its rare you see such a dominant performance in an individual meeting but Ellis was awesome last night. The pass on Ashley Morris was sublime and he rarely looked troubled. With regard to being too good for the NL, I would agree that Ellis probably is especially with how the league was weakened this year by the reducing points limit. However he has got to ride and as he didn't have a PL place it makes sense for him to go into the NL and it has been a great move for Birmingham, plus his presence can only be a good thing for the other riders in many ways. The comparison with Clegg I wouldn't agree with, last year Clegg was a third heat leader (albeit in a stronger league). He has really grown into the lead man role this season but at the start of the year you could never have argued he was too good for the league, and I would hope that he is able to ride in it for at least another season after this one depending on the make up of the leagues next season while growing further with a PL side.
