HadrianDog
Decent enough meeting, some good races,,, excellent guest in Richie Worrall,,, only Anton looking suspect. Ricky Wells was class for Worky, usually is at Brough, and he kept their score respectable. See Tero has some Kevlars, so would that suggest he's extending his 28 day stay ???,,, looks decent enough at reserve and got stuck in. Somene said to me about Lightnings fall and, that there was no need to make the move,,, well,,, what if it he had of past Wells, thats what we go to see, isn't it ??? Good to hear there was plenty money raised for the cause Good point that RD, noted in the programme that George said he had some guesting to sort out. Guess that means that the team as now will finish the season, with a poss. return for Lewis Rose being the only likely change. Given his outing tonight Tero is going to be worth those kevlars, assuming he can ride though the pain of his rib injuries?

dantodan
I really enjoyed the match, despite the easy win scoreline. Ricky Wells continues to prove he is one of the best visitors to Brough. He stopped Ludde on a maximum charge. Ricky against our guest Richie Worrall ( I say guest, but Richie is always going to be "ours") was a classic race with the "Evil Twin" going out really wide in the loose dirt and passing Ricky on a Black and White. The race was excellent. We really want Richie back here in 2016, so come on George English get his signature for next year. Having Steve and Richie in our side again would be brilliant, they started with us as reserves a few years back but both are premier league heat leaders now. I will support Newcastle "Worrall" Diamonds in 2016. with these two we wouldn't need to bring in an out and out number one rider as either brother could be that.  Tero Aarnio is looking like a good addition to our team well done the promoters in bringing him back to the premier league Simon Neilsen had his best night ever at Newcastle Si rode 7 times in the match notching 11 plus 3. Simon has been getting better and better every week at home at Brough, he is really good around the first two turns from his starts and often hits the front to be beaten back on the 3rd and 4th turns of lap 1. All he needs to do is attack the 3rd/4th turns and he will be hard to beat  Come on Lewi

For those who missed it, you were the losers as it was the meeting of the year at Brough. A bigger crowd(thanks Worky) against a spirited Diamonds 6 who pushed their way though in the earlier heats to set up some fine 5-1's. Wells is still a class act as he proved the first time he rode Brough for his then 13 points. He does it in such an easy way, with straight-line driving, and smooth starts and corners. Not the most exciting to watch, but enjoyed his tussle and chase by Richie to haul him in, who just rode faster and faster around the outside line, cleanly passing on the third/forth bends. Brilliant race, best for a long time at Brough, and very similar to Cook overhauling Richie a couple of years ago, when Richie rode the wrong line on the last bend. Steve and Richie for 2016, no objections from me, or most of the crowd last night I would imagine. Aarnio continues to prove George hasn't "lost the plot", and has make a mockery of others suggestion. Ludde had a big 'off' on the 4th bend, but despite it looking really serious, Ludde just dusted himself down, and walked back to the pits with his usual grin on his face. Tough lad. Simon another great night for him, and so pleased we didn't change him. Anton continues to look a problem at the moment with inconsistent performances. He was badly shaken last Sunday, so perhaps w need to hold judgement but he hasn't kicked on all season. Meeting had some great racing on a deepish track, followed by 6 heats in the NJL meeting, when the youngers also showed how to pass around Brough. A great meeting, collection for the Ben Fund, Interviews and Pix opportunities after heat 15, with a good crowd staying behind to see the juniors do their best. And all done and dusted with the fence dropped and stored before 9.10pm. It was time for a cuppa after that. HadrianDog
A good night of racing, a canny crowd turn out, the return of 'twin power' to Brough. three very welcome points in the bag, a message from Lewey's wife and first and foremost, no injuries to either side. All in all, a very pleasing night. The forum though has been very quiet. Shame that so many on here only post to have a gripe. Had we lost, the teams' detractors would have been out in force to be sure.

Against woeful travellers but a team including some who normally fly around Brough... Or have in the past.

Terrace Grumbler
White Knight, while I normally agree with a lot of what you say, I don't think that there is a real comparison to be made between the Worralls and the Owens - Tom and Joe simply bossed the NL, home and away I have brilliant memories of both, and especially of Tom. Â Don't get me wrong, I love watching the Worralls as well, but they don't dominate the way the Owen boys did. Â Something that mystifies me is how the team drew such big crowds when so many of the meetings were to all intents and purposes walkovers - but we all came to BP, week in week out. Â PS sorry not to reply to your post direct but I am on my mobile and for some great it won't let me do that.

The Worralls are still young and could develop in to a very potent force as well.

Pretty much as most 2010 meetings were when Kenni Larsen et al basically destroyed most opposition, on our way to the treble. Okay, the crowd numbers clearly lower than the Owen era, but the reason for turn out is still valid. Namely a winning team. I would bet that Armadale and Ashfield draw their currant sizable crowds for much the same reason.

Difficulty is a big winning team is also a lot more costly, as we found out in 2001. i think every time Edinburgh have won the PL they have met with huge losses. Crowds might be increased, but wages increase at a much greater level.

Merely an answer as to why big crowds came regularly to one sided encounters. If the frugal team building of 2015 allows us to run on in following years, then the management have it right IMO. It would have only taken a few less injuries to have our team far higher up the table, with a couple of the riders joining Stevie as an 8 pointer.

Ok, I never thought you meant a dig at the promotion or the 2015 team. I know when we set up in 1997, there was times we won good meetings, and still got complaints like "when are we going to get rid of that No 3 Dave". I lost it one night when a fan started moaning after we had just won something like 55 - 35. I threw my promoters jacket at him with words like 'see if you can do f***ing better'.
