T.N.T. Posted August 5, 2015 Report Share Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) There are a number of riders that double up in the Elite and Premier League and carry official averages in each league. However the difference in some cases is miles apart from their average in the other league and should we move towards one big league it would be best if riders had one fixed average. Take Ricky Wells who is averaging around 6.4 in the EL which would convert to something around 9.80 in the Premier League but he is actually just 7.84 which converted to the EL is about 5.00 which is some way off his true figure. Riders can easily have one average by simply adding together the rides and points in both leagues but only using 66.6% (divide by 1.5) of the points used in the lower level, so 99 points in the PL would count as part of the calculation in the riders one true average. EXAMPLE ONLY EL = 107 RIDES - 159 PTS +16 BP = 175 POINTS = 5.94 PL = 113 RIDES - 241 PTS +10 BP = 251 POINTS = 8.53 AVGE = 220 RIDES - 319.66 PTS = 5.81 AVERAGE (x1.5 = 8.71 PL) It is crazy that in the Elite League Craig Cook could guest for Ricky Wells for Wolves but in the Premier League his average is far too high for this to happen but Ricky is in the opposite scenario. Bruiser McHuge Posted August 5, 2015 Report Share Posted August 5, 2015 Averages are a bit of a farce in the Elite League with the extremes of easiness of races these days.....the extremes are much more than in years gone by.....number 1 riders are often averaging hardly more than a second string when in reality they are miles ahead as a rider.....that makes team building quite hard . What happens next season to the fast track riders like Jason Garrity etc.....no way can Garrity and the like spend another year as a fast track reserve so what average would he and others have next season ?......they obviously can't start with their average from this season ...what's the official rule on that ? 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

If he did move into the top 5 then what average would he come in on ?......he can't come in on his average from this season so how do they re assess a fast track riders average for next season......I'm sure there's a rule but I don't know what it is. SCB Posted August 6, 2015 Report Share Posted August 6, 2015 The way I'd do it is to cut the draft pay rate to a level that your Autys, Garritys, Newmans etc feel they have to ride in the 1-5 to make the sport pay. If they want to stay in the draft then they do so making no money. Riders get the draft to make an impression, prove they can do it but not make money from it.
