Belle Vue, Kings Lynn Or Swindon For 3rd/4th Spot

Recommended Posts

Belle Vue not allowing riders to guest for play off rivals gives some much needed credibility to the sport. What would be the reaction from Swindon fans if Belle Vue used one of their riders at Wolverhampton and it was the performance of that rider that resulted in BV picking up 4 points that knocked Swindon out of the play offs. It would be branded as farcical.

As much as I agree in principle with what BV have said, I think this whole scenario should be sussed out at the AGM table. It is wrong that one team stand alone in their decision to withhold their riders from guest appearances, when we all know, in its current program, the league cannot survive without guest!!!

I am still remembering last year, when Rory guested for BV frequently, and also later, when the Stars were decimated with injuries, we relied totally on guests to assemble a team of any strength, even in the PO semi-finals.

Until the BSPA have any resemblance of sensibility, and arrange our 2 leagues to run on separate nights, there can be no change in the laws regarding guests. Belle Vue, along with all the other clubs will always rely on guests to cover absent riders.

This needs sorting......

It's the rule for the play offs anyway.

Darcy's influence, funny, very good.

I don't think The Aces are reacting to sudden success but I reckon the team who have spent most of their existence making up the numbers may be.

Please get your facts right as Zengota has always been poor at Lakeside & maybe you should look at your promotion for booking a guest on his least favourite British track.

His score for Swindon their last week was his best score by miles at Lakeside since he rode here.

You can't judge everything by statistics. I was watching Zengota the night he guested for Belle Vue. As a Lakeside supporter it makes no difference to me whether Swindon or Belle Vue make the cut for the play offs but when you spectate at the same track every meetingyou get a feel for things that don't seem quite right and certainly it did not seem to my eyes that things were quite right. I was watching Zengota in particular because people were calling him the. man in form and I thought he might be a match winner, as indeed he was for Swindon a couple of weeks later, but of all visiting riders this year he did look ver,y bad. Nothing can be proved or disproved but all I can say as a neutral between Belle Vue and Swindon, is that it looked very odd to me at the time and even more so when he came back with Swindon looking a totally different rider . Others can form an opinion through the prism of whatever club they support but that's my view FWIW as someone who saw it.

Only 3 weeks now till the cut off date. It is still extremely close between 3rd - 5th

As it stands (17/08/15)

3rd King's Lynn (5 meetings left)

Current points: 45 Still available: 17

(H) Coventry, Swindon, Leicester

(A) Swindon, Poole

They still have 100% home record.

They now have no Kerr and could be very hard finding guests for him, esp if Belle Vue won't let them use Worrall.

I think they could sneak fourth.

4th Belle Vue (only 3 meetings left)

Current points: 43. Still available 10

(H) Leicester, Wolves

(A) Wolves

Belle Vue have a great home record having only lost to Coventry all season. They are capable of winning their away fixture and all their home ones, however with so few meetings left and a lot less points available, every meeting is a must win now.

5th Swindon. (7 meetings left)

Current points: 41 Still available. 25

(H) King's Lynn, Leicester, Coventry

(A) Poole, Coventry, king's Lynn, Coventry

Personally I think Swindon look the most likely to make the play offs and finish 3rd. With the points still available they would have to really mess up not to make it. They have a good chance of not only winning their home ones but also picking up away points. They also have double the fixtures left of Belle Vue. The only problem with having more fixtures will be if the weather intervenes.

Reckon 2 home wins out of 3 will see the Stars limp over the line to the play offs. Problem is, who ever tops the league will pick the Stars. With Aaron Summers joining Swindon, they are the nailed on 4th team. Stars won't make it past the semi's unless we get the right guests (liking Fast Freddie on Wednesday though!)

Dont know what was wrong with Wright tonight, he is certainly better than his score would suggest.

Nothing wrong with him just that Belle Vue's reserves are riding well at the moment, particularly at home. Nielsen has improved dramatically with the help he is receiving from Mark Lemon and his team mates. The just over £1000 collected for him by the fans has probably also helped.

I watched Stefan last year with his parent club in the NL and although he could be brilliant for Coventry Storm, he spent a lot of time over riding or coming off. He was the same earlier this season.

However over the last couple of months he seems to have made a huge improvement. More controlled and confident on the bike. Credit to Mark Lemon as whatever he is doing is definitely working.

I bet Belle Vue will really be hoping Coventry doesn't protect him in the draft next year.

Assuming neither have to move to the top 5, you would prefer him over Sarjeant or Garrity?
