IainB
Their Facebook page and Chris Harris as he has said he's racing tonight. Plus it has been confirmed by Lakeside. Leicester do have one of the worst websites for keeping their supporters updated. I remember bees trip there when nobody knew who was guesting for Leicester until the gates opened! My point exactly! As a floating fan if I was going by the website, I wouldn't be going tonight... but I've had to put on my Sherlock Holmes deer stalker and get my Mystic Meg crystal ball out to find out who's actually riding ... and they wonder why they can't get a crowd!
Vulcan62
Lions will not finish bottom - unless they suffer even more injuries. will be ahead of Wolves and most probably Lakeside although tonight's fixture may prove difficult considering the strengthening of the Hammers via the guests from Coventry. They may also pip The Aces. so having finished bottom last year, they will improve on that result this year which will be a good base to plan for next year when hopefully Doyle, Walasek & Wozniak will continue as full time Lions. It would be great to see Masters come back too but I agree with the concept of trying to build a team around full time riders rather than double ups as clearly this does disrupt the flow of the team when PL fixtures interfere. two things we do need for next year 1. riders who do not quit once their domestic season starts, 2 a great reduction in the number of injuries. The backward step of going into PL gains zero respect, as there is no guarantee of the Lions being able to build a competitive team as all good riders are spoken for, whilst the intention of building on this year performance will see Lions competing for a play off position. So three seasons one an inaugural wooden spoon, followed by a mid tablei(sh) season two and then a play off birth is a better set of circumstances than retreating back to the lower divisions. I am sure the continued ambition of the promoters will be rewarded with both increased support and a winning team A little optimistic me thinks! We might catch Wolves and possibly Lakeside but that depends a lot on what happens tonight. With their normal team I think we would beat Lakeside easily but with their guests it could well be a lot closer. Regarding next year, this week's Speedway Star reports that the transfer of Jason Doyle to Leicester has been shelved as the two clubs couldn't agree on a fee and that he is struggling with the busy schedule with home meetings on Saturdays. If this is true, a lot could therefore depend on if he qualifies for next year's GP's and wants to move away from a British Saturday night track. Personally, I would prefer to stay with Saturday night racing and if that means Premier League then so be it.
The Voice Of Reason
I know we aren't exactly box office (is that one of the understatements of the year? ) but as others have said, this patched-up team will almost certainly affect Leicester's gate. I can't even be @rsed going to see this Lakeside 'team' (?) and I only live 25 minutes away. Poor I know - but I seriously cannot get enthused. We've ridden three meetings this week already - tonight will be our fourth. Seriously, what utter numpties arrange this fixture list? And why didn't Lakeside approach Leicester (which I assume they haven't) in order to try and rearrange the fixture? Leicester have a free date on Sat 5th Sept.

I don't think it will. There hasn't been a meeting for 3 weeks so I reckon there will be a good crowd tonight. Nice weather and half the Coventry team riding will also probably mean a few Bees fans making the trip.
Gemini
Anyone hear what Norrie was complaining about after the meeting? I know it was something to do with the guests Lakeside had but I was keen to get home after getting soaked before the match started so was on my way out. It's good that dogs are allowed now so I made my second visit of the season but I didn't know until I got there that they are confined to the 4th bend so when it rained we both got soaked. It was quarter to ten when Norrie was speaking and there was still the MDL match to go. I don't know but perhaps I'm getting too old for all this hanging around watching tractors go round as I'm finding all the track grading increasingly irritating, plus an interval even though there was a delayed start due to the rain. I'm wondering how many fans stayed behind to watch the youngsters as most seemed to be heading for the exit. Must be disheartening to see the majority of fans leaving because it's so late.

Like most didn't hang around after that display,I think dogs should of stayed banned not a place for them. I have to question leicesters lack of getting good guests. DH looked unhappy on the center green? Shame about the mdl riders, can only blame the promotion, more would stay if it quickly followed heat

Basically he was unhappy that Lakeside changed their declared team after the deadline. They had booked Hans for AJ but switched him to guest for Kim so that they could use Bomber. He was unhappy that the BSPA were allowed to rule on an SCB rule.
mdmc82
http://youtu.be/u5Vy2CuezjE Link to Norrie Allen's speech. The rules do seem to be different for different teams. Made up as they go along nowadays.
tigerowl
So, the Leicester team contained Thomas Jorgensen who rides for Berwick as a guest for Sam Masters who also rides for Edinburgh, James Sarjeant of Coventry as a guest for Josh Auty who also rides for Scunthorpe and Dan Greenwood of Coventry Storm as a guest for Simon Lambert who also rides for Peterborough. On the other side, Hand Andersen of Coventry guests for Andreas Jonsson, Chris Harris of Coventry guests for Kim Nilsson, Max Fricke of Belle Vue guests for Mikkel Bech and Richard Hall of Berwick guests for Ashley Birks who also rides for Sheffield. Lakeside's three non guests are Edward Kennett who also rides for Rye House, Richard Lawson who also rides for Glasgow and Adam Ellis who also rides for Birmingham. And the promoters wonder why nobody goes to speedway any more!!

stevebrum
Thank god for Leicester, just when you think you're own team is rubbish They prove there is someone worse than yours. Guests sadly are the necessary evil but 7 must be a record!
Panthers89
Hard too disagree with anything Allen said there, having elite league promotors making decisions for the elite league is a joke.

arnieg
I'm sure I've seen matches where changes like this have been allowed. But can anyone come up with a precedent where a team was not allowed to change their line up after a late injury/withdrawal?

jim3751
My loss of enthusiasm started when we sent a 3 guest team to Eastbourne on a Saturday some years back and got beaten when the match should have been postponed. And this should have been too or call it a challenge for the benefit of the Leicester promotion. We have no matches for 2 weeks then 4 in a week. How could this be a Lakeside win to be pleased about when we use a top of the league pairing to do it? IMO that's what makes this case look even more ridiculous than using 3 guests.
