mdmc82
Its Elite League action again at the Jordan Road Surfacing Stadium on Saturday and another intriguing contest is in prospect as the Lions and the Lakeside Hammers battle it out for the match points. The visitors will be at the end of a hectic schedule as the fixture at Leicester will be their fifth meeting in six days! With both Andreas Jonsson and Kim Nilsson racing back home in the Swedish Final, the Hammers bring in the Coventry top gun, Hans Andersen who guested for them the last time they were at Leicester in April scoring 15 points. Nilssons absence will be covered by rider replacement and they have plenty of talent to call upon to cover for him as each team member is eligible for a ride. At reserve is Richard Hall, the first captain in the new era of the Lions who replaces the injured Ashley Birks. Meanwhile, Leicester are covering for their three injured riders with Thomas Jorgensen replacing Sam Masters and they bring in two of last seasons Lion Cubs, James Sarjeant and Dan Greenwood at reserve who replace Josh Auty and Simon Lambert. Teams Leicester: 1. Jason Doyle, 2. Thomas Jorgensen, 3. Grzegorz Walasek, 4. Szymon Wozniak, 5. Piotr Swiderski, 6. James Sarjeant and 7. Dan Greenwood Lakeside: 1. Hans Andersen, 2. Mikkel Bech, 3. Edward Kennett, 4. Richard Lawson, 5. Rider Replacement for Kim Nilsson, 6. Richard Hall and 7. Adam Ellis Edited: Mikkel Bech ruled out due to hand injury. Guest to be confirmed I know others have said this before but can't the powers that be see that having someone like Richard Hall as a 'Fast Track Reserve' makes the sport a laughing stock?
SCB
I know others have said this before but can't the powers that be see that having someone like Richard Hall as a 'Fast Track Reserve' makes the sport a laughing stock? Because the alternative is to have riders like Darryl Ritchings riding and he's not grade A draft level rider. Even Hall is not really that level but is better than using even lower level NL rider. It's a sport and an entertainment first and foremost before it is a training ground for young riders. You could argue the laughing stock is having an EL that has to train up youngsters because the lower leagues are failing!

I was really trying to make the point that the 'Fast Track' system is no longer working. I can see that you have to get who you can get if your reserves are injured but the number of riders who have been included on the 'Fast Track' list who are, to put it kindly, reaching the end of their shelf life, is getting ridiculous. cityrebel
What a price leicester have paid for EL membership, infrequent meetings with farcical line ups. Shades of eastbourne 2014.

If DH decided to drop into the premier league he would gain more respect and support than going for a 3rd wooden spoon in 2016 I see Hans Andersen is riding for Swindon against lakeside tonight then riding For lakeside against the lions on saturday,Friday he rides for the bees,in 3 days he has rode for nearly half the league teams, only in speedway lol Edited July 31, 2015 by robert72
mdmc82
Harris guests in place of Kim and Fricke instead Bech. Let's hope for an injury free meeting esp as Coventry now have Hans, Harris, Sarjeant & Greenwood riding in this meeting.

A poor crowd at Leicester would be welcomed elsewhere. Harris guests in place of Kim . Not according to Leicester's press release. They have got it down as being RR,

Gemini
Blimey! It will be like being at Coventry. First time for Lucy tomorrow so she should feel at home and go to sleep like she usually does. Just hope all the Bees riders come through the meeting safely.
robert72
A poor crowd at Leicester would be welcomed elsewhere, It should be a decent crowd now due to the amount of local rivals Coventry Bees riders in the meeting. You cannot class this as anything more than a select match with so many changes.

With all the changes made, Lakeside have booked some good guests & their line-up certainly looks stronger than Lions, can only see an away win. robert72
So next season it could be a case of "Doyle or No Doyle" to decide which league Leicester is in? I would be surprised if doyle was to return again With all the changes made, Lakeside have booked some good guests & their line-up certainly looks stronger than Lions, can only see an away win. So why cant Leicester book some good guests ?
stevethelion
I would be surprised if doyle was to return again So why cant Leicester book some good guests ? Always going to struggle to find a decent guest for Masters because of his low average & the fact there is a lot of premier league sides riding tomorrow doesn't help.Reserve guests seem a bit strange, they wait for Sargeant to hit his worst form of the season then pick him. But again the situation isn't helped by the amount of riders on the fast track list either injured or already riding tomorrow.
1 valve
I think Leicester went up to soon,If they Finnish bottom again I can see Doyle wanting to ride elsewhere next season and the struggle starts again to find riders wanting to come to Leicester. If DH decided to drop into the premier league he would gain more respect and support than going for a 3rd wooden spoon in 2016 Lions will not finish bottom - unless they suffer even more injuries. will be ahead of Wolves and most probably Lakeside although tonight's fixture may prove difficult considering the strengthening of the Hammers via the guests from Coventry. They may also pip The Aces. so having finished bottom last year, they will improve on that result this year which will be a good base to plan for next year when hopefully Doyle, Walasek & Wozniak will continue as full time Lions. It would be great to see Masters come back too but I agree with the concept of trying to build a team around full time riders rather than double ups as clearly this does disrupt the flow of the team when PL fixtures interfere. two things we do need for next year 1. riders who do not quit once their domestic season starts, 2 a great reduction in the number of injuries. The backward step of going into PL gains zero respect, as there is no guarantee of the Lions being able to build a competitive team as all good riders are spoken for, whilst the intention of building on this year performance will see Lions competing for a play off position. So three seasons one an inaugural wooden spoon, followed by a mid tablei(sh) season two and then a play off birth is a better set of circumstances than retreating back to the lower divisions. I am sure the continued ambition of the promoters will be rewarded with both increased support and a winning team Edited August 1, 2015 by 1 valve
