Lakeside Vs. Robins

Recommended Posts

I feel as I've said on another topic we being Swindon have a leader now , a true world class rider and is what I believe is a number one rider , a type of rider we have not had since the days of the magnificent Leigh Adams , another Australian class act who inspired his team mates many times , Swindon management and supporters need to convince this young man there is life outside of Poole and that he can be the main man , I thought he was superb when we got to the nitty gritty last night , shielding riders of the calibre of Bachelor , he can inspire us again tonight , he may only get us a point but it will be a massive one

After the victory parade last night the riders returned to the pits via the terraces, something the riders should do a lot more often. Darcy was the last back and spent ages talking to young and old, he was heard to say he liked it at Swindon.

To be fair AO he's hardly going to say he hates being there is he?! :D:t:;)

As I said I felt very happy having a rider like Darcy Ward as our Number 1 , I'm sure Poole and Middleditch will be hoping and confident of his return we need to convince him how great he can be as a Swindon rider , he will be World Champion and we need a classy No 1 , can you remember the rubbish we had to endure when a Mr Nicholls was supposed to be a no 1 ,

Despite what you have said on another thread it does appear by your comments that you do hate Swindon or at least dislike them.

Just to add good luck to the Robins and Darcy tonight.

Think I made my opinion very clear. I used to have a lot of time for Swindon and admired their more recent surge as one of the consistently better teams. That said I think I've been consistent with my views on teams 'dropping or manipulating' averages and have given Poole many a hard time over the same sort if issues.

I believe I have remained fair in that I have said consistently that Poole are playing things by the book this year and besides Coventry are the stand out sides and that they already have a team to take the title this year.

It's been a while since I've been called a 'Poole hater' and rightly so. I give praise where it is due.

quite funny really that people saying we lowered averages on purpose...

Batch is still garbage more often than not... Just like Bjerre, Lindgren and quite a few Elite riders this season...

I could understand your logic if Batch had started banging in heat wins for fun but it 'aint happening.

Rule book adhered to me old mukka.. :t:

Funny how ward couldn't sign because you had 2 riders over 7 yet suddenly Batch had some engine issues and low and behold he falls below 7, think you know the rest.

He has been average all year, but amazing only had mechanical issues until his average fell low enough.

Nothing wrong with that then. :nono: :nono: :nono:

Likes it at Swindon, LOVES it at Poole.

Wolverhampton have been spoit in recent years with Tai and Freddie , we have had some miserable seasons with Scott Nicholls , we went nowhere , even Troy was our no 1 , just not consistent enough , we needed something as it felt like another season drifting away , I feel sorry for the Wolves fans it's a 2015 to forget , riders like Darcy Ward was there to be had and luckily we got him ,

I think that's fairly tough on Nicholls. He had an impossible task following Leigh 'God on a speedway bike' Adams, and Nicholls had a bad year by his standards and even at his best, I think it was a bridge too far for him to fill Leigh's boots. That said, he never gave up and gave it his best.

If Darcy could be persuaded to stay, fantastic, if not, maybe Holder will see the light?

I'm not going to argue the point , Nicholls very rarely won a heat one and we always played catch up , I respect your opinion but mine was he wasn't a proper number one , we has Adams , Poole had Crump , Eastbourne Pedersen , nowadays Poole hold all the cards and we Swindon who are my team have one , let's somehow try and convince him , surely they can't have three of the best in there team otherwise what's the point

I completely agree with you in that Nicholls was not up to the job, but just felt it was harsh on him as a person.

I think it is a shame there are so few true number 1s prepared to ply their trade in the UK these days.

I have supported Swindon for over 40 years, and really hope they can persuade a true number one to join them next year. I have a feeling we will have an Aussie number 1 next year but not Darcy, I guess we'll have to wait and see?

40 years , crikey , u r as old as me then , I know this ain't the thread but I went mid seventies till early eighties , then couldn't get there , till I had my own family , last night was my first time this year , I felt with a number one like Ward we are never in danger of a average performance , Zengota was so fast , Bachelor felt so slow at times , I must admit I enjoyed Edouard and the young reserve efforts , very entertaining

Pretty old, about 8 days younger than a certain team manager from memory. Family, work and business make me a rare visitor these days, but I still follow using every media available. I have fond memories of coach trips to away meetings and big individual meetings and still have my 1983 World Final photo album in the cupboard. I wonder how many of the Robins fans on the forum were on one of those 2 coaches and are in that albumin strange garb? Edited by 65Sarge

I still have my programmes from the days of Martin Ashby , Bob Kilby , Geoff Bouchard , Jan Anderson , Billy Mcniel , Norman Hunter , much better then with 18 to 20 teams , I hated Coventry and Poole then , ha ha

But one of those three used to belong to..................SWINDON!!! ...........And you swapped him for Doyle, whom you never used!!

yep your right , God knows what happened there ,

Swindon to claim a point , Lawson needs to up his game otherwise it will be the Kennett ,Andreas Jonsson show , I think Ward,Zengota will score plenty and Blackbird and Wilkinson can hopefully secure enough between them to claim a point at least

He did that on Wednesday as well, the only reason he didn't win a race. It's actually possibly my favourite thing about Darcy. He's got great track awareness and always looks out for his teammates. A skill that a lot of top riders don't have.

Don't have to worry about any split loyalties tonight, rooting for a Robins win. For as long as you have Darcy, you're my second favourite team in the league. :)
