Lakeside Vs. Robins

Recommended Posts

No doubt Leicester, Wolves and the Robins will probably have the same thing in common come September. Bottom or 5th us just as poor.

The only thing in common is that 5th to 8th don't make the play-offs. With regards to just as poor - absolutely not - that accolade goes to Wolves and to say that Wolves are just as poor as the teams above them is you grasping at straws.

Lakeside Hammers Press Release::

::::::::

THE HAMMERS FACE THE

DARCY WARD LED SWINDON TONIGHT

The Vortex Lakeside Hammers take on the Darcy Ward led Elite League Play Off hopefuls, the Swindon Robins, at the Arena Essex Raceway this evening (Friday 31st July).

Swindon go into this meeting in fourth place in the table having defeated the Hammers last night at their Abbey Stadium home. That was despite the Hammers leading early in the meeting and still being level after ten heats plus only three points behind with three races to go. However, the Robins pulled away in the last three races mainly thanks to their new signing, the sensational Darcy Ward, who won heats thirteen and fifteen. His only defeat of the night came in the opening race where the Hammers captain Andreas Jonsson gained the heat win.

The Vortex Hammers go into tonight’s meeting with former Hammers favouritePiotr Swiderski coming in to replace Mikkel Bech, who sustained a hand injury in the final heat of Wednesday’s match up at Belle Vue. Kim Nilsson has still not recovered from his shoulder injury and his rides will be covered by using the ‘Rider Replacement’ facility, which will enable any of the Hammers riders to take an additional ride. Another former Hammers favourite, Ben Morley, comes in to replace the injured Ashley Birks.

Swindon’s new Czech Republic signing Eduard Krcmar is unavailable and will be replaced by Lewis Blackbird whilst Nick Morris will not be riding following a reoccurrence of an injury sustained earlier in the month. The Robins Management have now decided to use Rider Replacement to cover his rides. As he is second in their averages any of their riders will be able to take an additional ride. With their Elite Draft Riders Lewis Rose and Charles Wright both currently injured they have brought in Carl Wilkinson and Robert Branford, from Rye House, to replace them. In addition to the sensational Darcy Ward is fellow Australian International and Grand Prix rider Troy Batchelor who joins him and captains the side with Polish rider Grzegorz Zengota completing their team. Zengota has been in great form recently.

The Vortex Hammers boss Jon Cook commented this morning: “The appearance at the Raceway of Darcy Ward is always the season’s highlight and we look forward to an entertaining night and, hopefully, more League points for the Hammers.”

The action gets underway with the first race at 8pm with the grand parade of riders at 7.45pm.

Teams:

Vortex Lakeside Hammers: Andreas Jonsson, Piotr Swiderski, Edward Kennett, Richard Lawson, R/R (for Kim Nilsson), Ben Morley, Adam Ellis.

Swindon Robins: Darcy Ward, Lewis Blackbird, R/R (for Nick Morris), Grzegorz Zengota, Troy Batchelor, Carl Wilkinson, Robert Branford.

Looking at the teams that have been announced can't see any way the Robins will get anything from this meeting, i think Missing Nick Morris is a major blow for them, Lakeside certainly got the better gust in Swidders but with Darcy getting probably 16 with a tac ride they have a chance of a point.

5th - 8th don't make the play offs which by any definition is a failure to reach a minimum target of a play off place at the start of the season.

I'd say that any club in those positions have failed to have a good season.

Bottom is awful (which Leicester know about) yet 5th is still dire.

Just to add good luck to the Hammers tonight.

LAKESIDE: Andreas Jonsson, TBC, Edward Kennett, Richard Lawson, Piotr Swiderski, Ben Morley, Adam Ellis.

SWINDON: Darcy Ward, Lewis Blackbird, Troy Batchelor, Grzegorz Zengota, Nick Morris R/R, Carl Wilkinson, Robert Branford.

Swindon should definetly get something out of this. Looking at the two line ups this should be one of their easier away meetings.

With those line ups I can't see Swindon getting even close to getting a point as Lewis will struggle at no 2 & Zengi hates the place.

Lskeside look much stronger at reserve as well.

R/R with both Lewis & Zengi taking a ride is going to hurt as well but guess Rosco couldn't get a guest.

Despite what you have said on another thread it does appear by your comments that you do hate Swindon or at least dislike them.

quite funny really that people saying we lowered averages on purpose... :rofl:

Batch is still garbage more often than not... Just like Bjerre, Lindgren and quite a few Elite riders this season...

I could understand your logic if Batch had started banging in heat wins for fun but it 'aint happening.

Rule book adhered to me old mukka.. :t:

Do we know the reason being put forward for his non appearance?

Well it was a bit obvious to have so many issues on one night, he looked very quick when Poole were there and no breakdowns!

I really don't know where they got the idea from!!

4pm WEATHER CHECK

At the track where the weather is fine, bright and sunny and that's how we're told it's going to stay, well at least until the sun sets! No hint of rain.

As for traffic, flowing freely over heading for Bridge from North and queue that was on South headng towards Tunnel easing as we came through.

It does look like a easy Lakeside win but you never know Zengota might suddenly decide he can ride the track and score well, Lewis Blackbird cannot do any worse than Krcmar would have done and could be a reasonable guest, Batch should score well, he and Darcy should have 6 rides so they could get 30 between them, so maybe not all doom and gloom.
