King's Lynn V Leicester (29.07.15)

Recommended Posts

Doyle is a disgrace to speedway. He doesnt give a toss about the fans. He made no attempt to ride in heat ten. Referee was to weak to order the race to go ahead. Little wonder the crowds are dwindling.

Why should he 'order' a race to go ahead.

There is no guarantee Leicester wouldn't have got a point either. It seems conditions could actually have favored them.. Kerr had no interest and trailed in behind Greenwood. A wet track can turn the whole meeting into a lottery..

Or is it simply you just wanted 1 more race, knowing that you would win, regardless of the result in Heat 10?

The time wasn't 6 seconds slowly as I innacurately said earlier, it was 7 slower than Porsings win a few heats earlier.. that is a hell of a lot and a hell of a deterioration. The rain was coming down and by the time Heat 10 would have started it would have been worse still.

Not Doyle, the rules are a disgrace!! Only the away team can call for a track inspection.... Shouldn't be home or away teams decision.. But obviously, the ref needs a prompt from somewhere, and it can only really come from the riders that are not happy with the conditions, so what can be done.....???

Well personally I am blaming the ref D.Robinson in all this. Was he the only one in the stadium that didn't notice that big black thing that was looming over the 1st/2nd bend that was called a rain cloud. Why wasn't he prompt with getting on with the meeting soon as one race finished put the 2 mins on get on with the next.Could have the meeting done in 45 minutes if he had the finger on the pulse. He has robbed the fans no one else.

Why was there a 'parade' to begin with?

Why would it matter to the fans or Doyle that he never rode in heat 10 ...I thought everyone said the other week that crowds were dwindling because teams were running the matches to heat 10 before stopping ...as someone said with speedway fans you can't win they moan whatever .

If the Leicester management had of let heat 10 go ahead all the abuse and bad feeling wouldn't have been heard. Do they really think they can get a league point or more in the rerun of this match. They are rubbish . I have wasted 17 pounds tonight and I am bloody angry.

Leicester didn't call it off. The referee did.

It was raining, it happens.

Of course they won't get a point so bar the track being unsafe they have no motive to want to call the match off before heat ten ...not sure why if heat 10 had been run you have felt that your 17 pounds would have well spend . As I said other over last few weeks all we heard is fans moaning about running the match to heat 10 now went they don't they moan about that as well .

My 17 pounds wouldn't have been well spent after 10 heats but at least I wouldnt have to spend another 17 to watch the rerun of this meeting.

You don't have go the re run ..last time I looked there was no law forcing you to go .

As far as I can work out you will get a whole pound off the next meeting if you have retained your ticket :t::P

Not there, so can't comment on the conditions.

Bear in mind Leicester are already 3 riders down through no fault of their own (masters avoiding roynon, auty taken out by tungate & lambert by Dan Greenwood) & to that Walasek just returning from his 3rd injury of the season.

What team would we have out on Saturday if there had been another needless injury tonight?

A couple of guests is bad enough, but 4 would be ridiculous.

If the track wasnt safe heat 10 should not happen just to get a result!

the track was fine, 3 riders were ready to race. then the ref decided hed have a wander down to the pits for some absurd reason only for the track to get worse and worse. if theyd of completed the race when 3 riders were there and ready to ride we would have had a result.

I haven't ! I like to think that I learn from previous experiences.

You don't have to. Stay at home and "watch" it on the updates.

The whole issue of all what happened tonight was the inconsistent decisions when the Referee is asked to officiate. Seeing what has happened in previous problems, at other venues, regarding the dreaded heat 10 rule, it has become an excepted practise to run those ten heats then call the meeting to end. Whether this be right or wrong it has become a precedent, set by those in charge.

Tonight we had a one sided affair, Leicester trailing some 13points adrift, they having played their TR, with not a hope in hell of getting anything from this meeting, when the expected rains began to fall. Disappointed, as there were only 2 and half races to go to get to Ht10, I knew the meeting would be cut short. Heat 8 finished, then heat nine was run. by this time the rain was falling, but not hard enough for people to leave their uncovered seats in the Royal Box. The riders had come to the start for ht 10, when the ref left his box to go to the pits. Apparently Dolye was refusing to ride saying it was unsafe. To everyone dismay the Ref then called the meeting off, although there were 3 riders at the tapes waiting to start.

I don't blame Doyle for his petty actions, Why should he have to clean those sparkling leathers, or wash his bike down. in a meeting they had already lost. The biggest problem here was the Gutless Ref. The fact he had been slow all night and took forever to call the next heats was irrelevant. Had he been man enough, he would have told Doyle while there were riders willing to race then the meeting continues, and placed him on 2mins. Instead he left his post to talk with Dolye. It took him longer to get down those stairs and walk to the pits then it would have taken to run the race. As it is now, the meeting has to run again. All the riders will have to make arrangements in their busy schedule to fit in another meeting. . The promoter will have to refund monies they can ill afford. Hoping that the fans who weren't pissed off the first time will come back for a second helping that quite honestly wasn't very competitive or compelling meeting at the first asking. And all for the sake of the Ref 's inability to do his job sensibly . One heat would have solved all those issues. Safety was never a factor. If tonight convinces a couple of fans to stay away, then the damage done is massive.........

This sport need events like this like a hole in the head. The fans want to support the sport but decisions like this make it very hard.

I approached the Ref later, to ask of his reason to call the meeting off , and his reply was: 'The meeting was late in starting, and, had we been on time, we would have got to an conclusion.' ..... Fair comment,............. but hardly the reason to abandon the meeting...... surely...?????

To me the Ref created the whole sorry scenario........
