Wolves V Robins 27/7

Recommended Posts

Worrying thing for me is that we have riders who are underperforming, yet are not even under pressure. Peter Adams says theres no point making changes for the sake of it and while there is some truth in that, they need to be seen to be doing something, rather than just putting up with this rubbish.

Could always look to unearth a gem for next season, rather than plod to seasons end.

Just got back. Zengi superb. Darcy, Troy and Charles all rode very well. Wolves never recovered from Heat 12. Have to say I was expecting all 4 back. Bates stopped in the back straight and our 2 nearly stopped coming out of bend 4.

Should put Wolves nearly the wooden spoon ..... hard lines Steve Brum :P

thankfully we aren't as bad as Leicester.

Steve Brum will not be celebrating after all! Its a mammoth 4 points for the Mighty Robins!

It's the same old story, get ourselves into a good position and then completely capitulate.

It just proves that last week against Poole was a one off.

The crowd was better than i expected however the track isn't quite the same these days or the boys have just forgot how to ride it.

Still not convinced about Swindon making the play offs but let's face it you can only beat what's in front of you, luckily for them it was a side too shy to bother to win matches anymore.

Morris I hear re - opened the gash on his arm so bad luck on that one, no idea what happened to Tobby.

Thank god Lambert is in town next week, he would be the only thing worth going for.

WOLVES

FREDDIE - 1ST 3 heats the Freddie of old, next 2 heats replaced by the 2015 version. 3/5

JACOB - definetly in a bit of form and showed Ward the way in Heat 1. Struggles when the track gets slicker but earned heat 15. 3.5/5

RICKY - mid part of the meeting was excellent but Heat 14 was a nightmare. 2.5/5

TOBBY - clumsy tape touching in heat 3 followed by a mindless fall on 1st bend, however his effort in heat 6 was worth the admission fee alone and as always gives us a little glimpse of his ability. 0.5/5

PK - out of his depth at number one and heat leader, battled hard in heat 13 however he looks to have forgotten the lines he is so famous at Monmore for. 1.5/5

LEWIS - beat no one of any real standing and joined in the rot of our downfall with the fall in heat 12. 2/5

JOSH - did his job in Heat 4 but struggled otherwise. 1/5

ROBINS

Ward - got owned in heats 1 and 10 otherwise the expected effort you come to expect. 3.5/5

Krcmar - just about beat Bates which summed his night up. 0.5/5

Morris - only had the one race to write about before he caused his own fall in the 7th. 1/5

Zengota - one off race against a strong Wolves pairing in heat 7, otherwise exemplary. 4.5/5

Batch - had the odd couple of battling races without ever looking like winning one, the standard Batch setting. 2.5/5

Wright - did his job at reserve and surprised he only had 4 rides, I expected one of ash's and one of Eduard's, excellent nights work tho. 4/5

Ash Morris - did his job well picking up points gifted to him. 2/5

The pokc snatched a draw tonight to save the pokc sycophants blushes.

A meeting involving THE TOP TEAM was devalued to the point they had to seriously discount the admission price to get anyone to turn up and a rider admitted to testing 'different things'on a new engine.

Its all okay though because two lower teams had something to race for.

The pokc sycophants will be celebrating tonight, lol!

Blimey pokc and sychophants twice well done keep up the good work!!

Super win for the Robins. Must admit I feared the worse when I saw the score half way through the meeting.

Going back a few pages on this thread I noticed Batch getting some stick. I have to agree that often when it matters most, Batch fails to deliver, and for me, his general form this season he has been poor. Luckily, the development of both Morris and Zengi have compensated.

In recent seasons in crucial races, especially against Poole, he has shut off when things have got close when racing Darcy Ward and Chris Holder, who are always totally committed. We Batch pull out of similar situations in the Swedish GP on Saturday.

That said, he did well at Wolves, so hopefully he will kick on and inspire the team into the play offs.

I predicted a 42-48 score but was suprised early on that Wolves were not only holding the Robins but also leading them and picking up heat advantages too. Every time they came back at Wolves the home team did the same and with 9 heats gone it looked like Wolves were going to edge it after a great 5-1 from Ricky and Freddie over Darcy put it at 33-27 with just 5 races left.

However when you looked at the remaining heats it was clear Robins were going to finish strongly as only Ward, Batchelor and Zengota featured in all but the reserves race in heat 12 and Zengota was already looking fast and those final five heats went 24-6 in favour of the visitors with Zengota getting three untroubled race wins from those heats.

Were Wolves that bad or were Swindon just too strong ?

I would say it was more of the latter as Zengota was so fast from the gate no one got near him and Darcy was what was expected and even in the race he was on the wrong end of a 5-1 he was all over the Wolves pair and Freddie did a great job in making sure there was no gap for him to try and pass.

Lewis Blackbird didn't quite look on the pace while Josh Bates was not really on it but his only real point he picked up was beating Ashley Morris who he replaced in the Wolves line up in the draft system. Meanwhile Tobiasz Musielak had a nightmare by hitting the tapes and then falling in the rerun and injuring his right arm. He did however put on a good race for third in heat six with Troy Batchelor.

Overall the more powerful and stronger team duly won and on this strength they look a formidable team to beat over two legs. If they can get decent cover for Morris they should pick up more points on their travels and at Poole on Wednesday it may be wise to use R/R with Darcy making a return to Wimborne Road.

This was always a predictable result. Wolves have been very poor which makes it even more shocking that Poole lost there.

I agree always expected a Swindon win but the margin is surprising and Poole should have won but Holder and North were poor whereas all the Robins heat leaders did their job with Zengota proving why Howarth had to go. Krcmar is a worry for them and his days in Robins colours may be numbered, have to get a double upper in maybe.

Not surprised myself. We went there a couple of weeks ago and won 40-50 & full max for Harris, and that was with Garrity giving them a head start with bike problems in his first 3 races & Robbo missing the 2 minutes. Wolves looked very poor and last night sounds like it was no different.

I wasn't surprised by yesterday's score line, it was just a huge surprise that Poole didn't do the same.

Unfortunately we let them get the boost of a max in the tac ride and then Roynon came up with an unlikely heat 12 win, Charles Wright is riding very well at the moment and could easily win any reserve race.

Thought it was a OK meeting, good crowd, Batch rode his socks off for the points he got!

Wasn't a very good crowd for Wolves and the terraces were more sparce than previous meetings.

Have to ask as this is the first time I have seen Zengota ride this season but does he usually wear Australian Team kevlars and a Swindon top ?

His mechanic had left his kevlars in the workshop and so Batch leant him a set of his

When was the last time I admitted how good the pokc was?

You should be buzzing! Last night your team was involved in one of those thrilling meetings the pokc was made for. Had it not been for the pokc it would have been one of those meaningless fixtures where both teams have nothing to race for, probably ending in a dull home win, both teams season's would be petering out with nothing left to race for and not even a proper ko cup.

Usual post, you must be joking!

It might have passed you by but THIS was that thrilling meeting that without the pokc, would have been a meaningless and dull borefest. I expect the traffic on the M5 must have been a complete nightmare with all the travelling fans driving up in a huge convoy.

Blimey pokc 4 times no less wow, you have excelled yourself this time but a little disappointingly no mention of sychophants!

Best book Starman into hospital as he would have a heart attack if they both rode for Swindon:-)

Mind you what bookie would have given odds on the Turbo twins riding for the same side other than Poole or Torun this year?...well apart from Piraterna!...certainly not Swindon!
