A ORLOV
The 2016 season may start with the stand still being built unless they get a move on.
van wolfswinkel
Once again a great read. I only hope when the back straight bogs are knocked down it's done with far more pomp and ceremony than the knocking down of the pits They are a listed building so cannot be demolished...they will be reassembled brick-by-brick in the new stadium

What really is amazing is that starman has read something about Darcy when he's not been mentioned once in the whole thread! Try reading Hagonshockers post....Duh... rudger
Can someone describe to me exactly where the new track and facilities will be , I made my first visit for 2015 on Thursday and arrived in car park to see building work at the back of main car park spread round the back of existing grandstand to back of pits , I cannot visualise where one will be built whist keeping the old one running till its built

A hedge and bucket is luxury compared to the back straight bogs.
YerRopes
The back street bogs are "the old days'. A hedge and bucket is luxury compared to the back straight bogs. What utter nonsence ER... Everyone turns their head with total sympathy and a bow of respect should on the 4th lap you try to sneak off to the back street bogs without anyone noticing... Me personally, I visit in full H&S regalia.. ... and I'm perfectly fine..

remembertheracers
But when is building going to start? Cant realistically be ready for March/April even if it is built. Also is it true that North Swindon MP Tomlinson has quit the all party House of Commons speedway group?
MattK
On his web site it states "As a Government Minister, Justin is no longer able to join APPG’s..." so it is true, but maybe it's not as big a conspiracy as people are making out. I asked JT that same question and he conformed that was the case...no Ministers allowed to sit on Parliamentary groups Otherwise he stated he would and would have loved to remain part of it

Chalkie
Well I, for some unfathomable reason, paid a visit to Blunsdon Market today and unless I was looking in totally the wrong place, could see no evidence of any preparation for the new stadium! Grachan
I've always tried to remain positive about the new stadium being built. But when you turn up to a match and see houses actually being built INSIDE the current stadium and no signs of a new one you suddenly realise how final things are getting. As things are, I'd say never mind next season, I reckon we should worry about completing this one. If the builders are told they have to stop building their houses because of the speedway track it only takes one to get fed up waiting and plunge his digger into the fourth bend and we're done for. At the moment I'd say that the EL could be losing Swindon, Coventry and Lakeside very soon. I don't know whose responsibility the building of the new stadium is, but they need a kick up the backside. Remember the Racino?
A ORLOV
grachan they are not building houses inside the stadium area yet, they have knocked down the old away pits to put a drain through. If you turn up one week and there is a house on the centre green you can start panicking then.

If you turn up one week and there is a house on the centre green you can start panicking then. Especially if you've bought the said property! I would love it myself, free view of the speedway from the garden or windows. Well I, for some unfathomable reason, paid a visit to Blunsdon Market today and unless I was looking in totally the wrong place, could see no evidence of any preparation for the new stadium! (Worried of Lechlade.) I'm sure I spotted a saw on the ground when I drove past earlier! So fingers crossed! Was sat by The Riverside pub in Lechlade yesterday having a nice cold pint of coiderr...splendid place on a warm evening!
