Have You Ever Seen Anything Like This ?

Ha! b;===y Ha! Time to move on from berating Darcy Ward.

I suspect that until he shows genuine contrition and demonstrates a new approach to his off-track life then he will slowly gain respect. Until then, it's open season.

I do wish to place on formal record my own contrition at my support of the foul abuse of Boston Speedway's flag and newspaper boards. I failed to re-hydrate.

...For all its faults I am profoundly glad I watch my speedway in the UK and not amidst this madness. 'Success' can have a huge price.

Me too. No way would I be a Speedway supporter if it was like that.

Yep, speedway in Poland is no place for deck chairs, Adidas bags, flasks of tea and sandwiches in Tupperware boxes.

Sadly you get the morons from Zielona Gora who are quite happy to pour glory on murderers, and to act disgracefully towards their riders and visiting supporters (see the corresponding thread in the International Section). Thankfully I've not met any other Polish speedway fans like that at any of the other 7 tracks over there that I've been to so far, nor do I anticipate meeting any like them at any of the other tracks over there that I'm planning on visiting in the future.

Not suitable for me then. :D Speedway here may have its faults ~ and many of them ~ but I still enjoy it. It's nice to be able to stand (or sit) next to visiting supporters without any aggro. Perhaps a bit of banter but that's it. I'm looking forward to seeing my Swindon friends on August 21st and if the Robins win I will congratulate them, although it may be through gritted teeth.

That really is an offensive, lazy stereotype. I After all, it could be said that only a sad anorak goes to Poland to watch speedway.

I haven't been over there but I've seen enough on TV of hordes of baying fans behaving like football ultras.

You may like such an atmosphere. I'm glad I don't.

I enjoy my speedway with all its faults and I have worked in the sport away from the UK. After all I've seen give me a good league match in Britain any day. I'm usually too busy enjoying the speedway to sit there passing judgement on those in the stadia though.

You obviously enjoy your anorak trips. Fine, just don't sneer at others who have other priorities with their lives. If I want to watch sport in a lunatic atmosphere of hostility and hatred there's plenty of football grounds here.

Judging by reports on your behaviour at British meetings I'd suggest you stick to Poland where you'll fit in much better.

Haven't you just come up with a stereotype of your own though? ;)

As it is, I'm with you in the main. I like the slightly more relaxed atmosphere at a meeting here in the UK to that of Poland. But saying that, I do enjoy a play-off meeting vs Poole where things undoubtedly get a little more tense and highly charged.

May save these quotes for another time. People like faulty speedway, shock!.

I wonder if this is the attitude that stops Cardiff ever attracting a full house like it does for the rugby? i.e. people who won't go because it's too rowdy, with all these noisy Poles and stuff... and there's nowhere to unfold their blanket on the floor and to put the deck chairs?

Well as long as a faulty sport has people that are satisfied with it, what incentive is there to improve on it?

I shall expect a call from the Politically Correct Thought Police in the morning then...I'm quaking in my boots as I type! :o

Maybe it's just me but it appears you have misinterpretated UK Martins post. If not, it's one hell of an over reaction.

You can save mine and quote it again the next time I'm having a moan. For the record my dislikes are sunbreaks and unnecessary delays due to crappy tracks having to be sorted out during the meeting. That's about it really as I've never been interested in the statistical side of speedway so things like that don't annoy me.

With regard to Cardiff - yes that's me and why I don't go any more. Don't like rowdy people whether they're Poles or not and sick of spilt beer and having to get up to let someone go to the toilet every five minutes. Much more comfortable at home.
