tyretrax
You very well travelled. To see most meetings that Josh Bates has rode. Or perhaps you are being economical with the truth. O.K. most meeting that I have seen him ride in. Better? Was even blocking his team mates on Thursday.

baba
He quite slight built bates another few years and he'll be much better. Mitchell davey had same problem seemed he couldn't handle the bike at times there's no denying bates has got talent.
spin king
Re Bates all you need to do is read Speedway updates site Bearing in mind that large amount of those meetings are at Sheffield. I will know what those comments will have been, as I stand with the two texters from Sheffield each week, one of which is my own son. In saying that I am not saying that Josh is perfect and he does make mistakes. Edited July 19, 2015 by spin king
tyretrax
He has my appreciation of being a speedway rider. Maybe when he grows a bit and gets some more bulk he'll be better.hopefully.
Chris
Predictable stuff. Is Scott still around the club? Silver is like a cancer at the club I'm afraid. Surely Scott can see the old codger has pissed everyone off & doesn't know what he's doing? Now we have Sampford quoted as saying "the 42 day break has killed our season". No John the complete and utter f'k up of replacing a 6 point plus rider with a rider who won't average 3 is the reason. Prat. I'm struggling to remember a more idiotic team change.

Very true but barring the odd youngster the only way these young riders learn is by making mistakes young Bates has improved week on week as his point scoring suggests, I am sure as his career unfold's he will become a more accomplished performer. I like him he has all the attributes to become a very good rider it is a pity the Messiah decided to move back to Oz he would have been the ideal mentor for young Bates. Alan_Jones
Shadders, does Andrew not need to promoters licence to run the Raiders? NL teams don't have promoters, they are chairmen.
JamesM09
Been to Rye House for a Premier League meeting for the last time this year. Turn up to a NL meeting for £10 and we are presented with a fighting team, good entertainment and a well prepared grippy track. Turn up to a PL meeting for £16 and we are presented with a Slick dusty track and a poor team with the exception of a few. Don't get me wrong Steve Boxall is no world beater and isn't going to score bucket loads of points, but was increasing his average on last year and scoring half decent points every week-- Steve gets injured, at this point we have arguably the best reserve in the league in Robin. So Len Silver comes up with the bright idea to bring in some German who couldn't buy a point let alone score one, also meaning Robin is moved into the main body of the team- That's losing a good 10 points per meeting if not more. We then sack Dan greenwood who had won a couple of heat 2's and beat Lasse Bjerre in HT 1 at Redcar and also chipped in with a few points here and there. Struggling yes- But then replacing him with Luke Bowen... Really- Why? How is that helping? Like the start of the year not scoring many points. So another inspired signing by Len. The Track- It's poor week in week out! Slick and Dusty- for the team we've got a gripping track would be much more suited, as seen a few times earlier in the season. Robin can't ride slick tracks- no wonder he's struggling! Back to Danny Maassen- Len's quote "He's trying" Yeah I would try and i'm still waiting for my call up? Got to feel sorry Eddie, NBJ and Mellgren who are scoring points every week and have nothing behind them to back up their efforts.

To be fair over the last couple of months Simon Stead has taken him under his wing and the riding and points scored has improved vastly. whowasthatberntpersson
Despite all the negative publicity I really enjoyed my visit to Rye house last night. Nice to have a quiet pint with some of the many travelling Glasgow fans in the Rye pub prior to the meeting too. Referee Dave Robinson (not one of my favourites after he wrecked the Coventry v Swindon meeting last year) again made a couple of dubious decisions. Palovora, Pavlova, Palaavara ot whatever he was called last night was the match winner for the Tigers, Holder also rode quite well in place of Howe. Solid performance from the Tigers who overcame a Rockets team who do look to have very weak reserves. Some very good racing, Kennett's last dash win over the Palavaara?? was a highlight, not sure why he had a spit after the race though, nothing to talk about imo, the Swede is as soft as a brush and wouldn't have done anything deliberately.

Couldn't have put it better myself. as for Maassen "He's trying" yes 'very trying' for us fans but the team don't need 'trying' they need points. Luke Bowen - well I've said it before if he wanted to 'take a break from racing' he should have said so before the start of the season instead of leaving us in the lurch 5 meetings in but to have him back now, especially as he really isn't making much of an addition to the points tally is plain daft, they should have stuck with Dan Greenwood and just looked for a replacement for Steve Boxall, at least I could have cheered for that person, win or lose but I just cannot bring myself to cheer anymore for Luke. On saying all that I did enjoy last nights meeting even though we lost. Hurry on back Kasper we desperately need you.

Luke is the best rider available on that four point figure. The issue is with the reserve pairing on the whole, the Maasen signing was crap, lets not sugar the pill. It's not too late to make more changes for this season, it's too late to save the season though.
Paulco
Was a great night for us , first time I've saw us win at Rye . It all went wrong for the home team right from the start when Aspregen fell when Rye had gated on a 5-1 . Though the heat 2 exclusion evened that up . I kind of agree with the ref on that one , Roynon did pull a big locker , but I've seen races allowed to continue in those circumstances . Doesn't say much for the Rye reserves when Roynon still finished ahead of them . After that it was pretty much plain sailing with Lawson and Summers leading from the front . Track looked good and wasn't too dusty and it's still a cosy wee stadium . I saw Rye win impressively at Scunthorpe earlier in the season and I'm sure they'll come out of this slump , but the reserve situation needs looked at .
