Makes you wonder if Josh Bates was signed specifically for the Kings Lynn meeting only as a "disguised guest"? The fixture clashes on Wednesday and Friday would have been known about in advance, so there must have been knowledge that in the first 2 weeks, of the 3 Brummies fixtures he could only have taken part in one of them. By the time the Brummies get to Rye House, let alone the home fixture against Kings Lynn on the 29th, it sounds like Tom Perry will be fit enough to resume duties again, so the guy that "signed for the Brummies" won't ever get a "home" meeting under his belt.

What a shame that the sort of shenanigans that Poole get up to in the EL have to trickle down into the NL. Not one of the "Big Club's" prouder moments I'm ashamed to say.

As we saw yesterday, RR for Perry/Bates may only be worth 5 or 6 points, so add that to the 25 points that I guess Adam Ellis and Zach Watjknecht will get between them, will leave a big ask of the remainder of the team to get. Let's see how they get on, but I'd have said that with Perry or Bates in the team, this was a winnable fixture for the Brummies, but with R/R, this will see the Brummies lose their first points of the season.

I think Birmingham may score more from Bates RR rides than Coventry will for Crangs RR ones. Not really any home advantage as this will be Storm's first league home meeting even though we are in July!

The weather looks good for this

Bates was signed to ride tomorrow. Sheffield have rearranged their meeting in the mean time and it clashes and Sheffield get priority.

If that's the case then maybe I'm wrong, but in the murky business of British speedway management, nothing would surprise me any more.

Martin you owe the club an apology mate.

You are quick to make accusations now lets see if you are equally quick to admit you were wrong and apologise.

As for the match itself: -

I fear that we are going to lose our first league match of the season. But it was always bound to happen at some point, we are not unbeatable and no-one owes us a win (Rent boys take note.) The important thing is not to let our heads go down if we do, after all we are currently 14 points in front. It would IMO be massive if we could somehow conjure up a point from this. But if we don't it's not the end of the world. One match at a time lads, one match at a time.

One message to our lads though.

For gawds sake, please stay on your bikes! :)

This will definitely be Coventry's hardest home meeting of the season, shame it has to be their first.

Birmingham have been the stand out team and the strongest team In the league. They have not lost a meeting yet which says it all.

I think this will be a Birmingham win tonight. I just hope there are more Coventry fans attending than there was at the fours. Yes I know we have two leagues to support Coventry in put with bees not having a home fixture for a couple of weeks, hopefully more will come along.

Is there anyone going to this meeting who would be able to text updates to the Updates site? If so, could you please send me a private message including your mobile number.

Thanks

Nice to see brum are giving Powell another go instead of there chosen number 8,whats the point in having a number 8 I ask?

Brum will beat an average Coventry team.

Ben Basford is riding tonight not Powell for some reason

Why not use Parker thou, dont understand.

Think it's similar to why Eastbourne hasn't replaced Kelsey with Strudwick. They have less experience than the guest rider not that they have much anyway but they are better than the number 8.

Congratulations Birmingham on the win.

Unlucky for Storm to lose Dwyer so early on but did well to still take it to a last heat decider.

Even with it being close it wasn't one of the most entertaining meetings I've seen. Only really Ellis & Knuckey offering any real racing without coming off. The rest was mainly from the gate. Surprised in some ways that Ellis is still riding NL as there is a huge difference between the EL & NL and he is doing well in the EL.

It's great to see Birmingham Brummies back racing. I hope one day we see them back in the EL
