Darcy,kelvin, Nigel And Chris Too.

As many of you know i am new to the sport. As a person Darcy has made some bad mistakes and I can see why some look down on that. On the flip-side I think riders like Darcy, Tai and a few others are perfect to be in the limelight on Sky etc. I think this is the way to attract new and younger fans. As most of us know, when you are younger you look at the stand out figures in each sport and undoubtedly Darcy has stuck out for the wrong reasons but his riding speaks for itself and I for one think that if the focus is on his riding it can only be a great thing for the sport as he is a very exciting rider. Now let's hope Ward keeps hitting the headlines for the right reasons. I really enjoyed that meeting last night.

I'm sure they are told by Sky bosses to keep building up Ward.....Sky want stars in all the sports they cover and want to build stars that will entice people to watch..they do it in a number of sports .

Ward is a box office rider whether people like it or not and its only right he is championed by the Sky team, they are a commercial channel after all.

It was his first meeting back(on sky) after his ban, he was always going to get mentioned and rightly so. He has been missed in the EL, ability wise he's the best rider to ride over here and he's back incase anybody misseed that last night. Sadly some so called speedway fans would rather see him on the sidelines and not on track doing what he was born to do. I for one love that Ward has returned and its funny that its not for Poole but Swindon.

Exactly. I noticed an advert for the darts during the meeting last night and it's teh same with football. Sky focus and show the stars that will draw the punters in. Simple as that.

Ward is Not a role model that most parents would want there kids to follow.

If sky want to attract box office then Pedersen is the biggest box office rider in modern speedway.

What sky did yesterday to make ward the returning hero was wrong.

What has being a 'role model' got to do with anything?

Ward is a box office name rider and Sky quite rightly use him to promote the sport.

Pedersen doesn't ride in the UK, Sky don't show the GP's so its absolutely pointless promoting him.

Sky promoted a meeting utilising a head line maker. They do it very well - some people and Speedway in general should grasp it and learn how to promote / market / sell. The 100's of posts on this forum Ward creates confirms they got it right, again.

Promoting someone Banned for being over the alcohol limit is Not good PR in the real world but sky are flogging a dead horse with speedway & will try anything.

To put the record straight, I don't have anything against Darcy Ward.

He is a very talented naturally gifted rider, he has made some poor career decisions and up to now he has abused his talent.

And yes he is box office.

What I don't need is to hear that, for what seemed every ten minutes.

Darcy is back, after umpteen months serving a ban.

Darcy is such a talent.

Darcy can team ride.

Darcy can gate.

Or

What's it like not having Darcy in your team (Poole riders)

Or

What's it like having having Darcy in your team (Swindon riders)

Was there a competition to see how many times one presenter could utter Darcy Ward.

Last night was overkill on magnanimous scale.

Not at Swindon though, coz they ain't got none! (well about 50 chairs in the upstairs bar that's it!)

I'm getting to the age now where for some while I have been thinking of investing in a fold-up chair, a tartan blanket and a thermos..but...

Hurrah, it's looks like the new stadium is going ahead, so I won't have too... :t::party::D:t:

So you must be over 50...you will still need a flask and blanket(other patterns apart from tartan are available)at the new Blunsdon Stade de Lite.
